@NHLRumorsDaily
has said VGK offer is Tuch, Krebs and Brisson or Coghlan plus a 1st rd pick. I think VGK drops out if offer isn’t enough."

The point is he makes Valimaki expendable. Doesn't matter about the comparison. It was just meant as a comparison to a home grown dman with a similar play style.

Thats exactly what it should be if we're giving them Tkachuk.
Eichel isn't that much more valuable than Tkachuk to a lot of teams around the league.
The difference should be cap and B prospects (with a conditional first), not 3 other 1st round level pieces.

Eichel doesn't need Johnny, and Johnny doesn't need Eichel. At least not 5v5 so why would you put your two elite playmakers on the same line? That just makes your team easier to matchup against.
The Panthers separate Huberdeau and Barkov, the Penguins separate Crosby and Malkin, etc.

If I had to guess I think this is probably the Flames offer.
Tkachuk
2022 1st
Valimaki
Wolf
Ruzicka
I actually think Treliving will be hesitant to move any of Zary, Pelletier, or Coronato. Historically he's shown he's hesitant to move recent 1st rounders until their value was maybe a little down (Valimaki, Bennett).
And if the goal is to contend in the next 4 years while Eichel, Tanev, Markstrom are all under contract...then you need those three guys to fill the roster during that time.
Also if the offer was Tkachuk and our top prospects then it's a no brainer for Buffalo. But I think the trade off here is the better top piece from Calgary (Tkachuk) or the better futures (Krebs/Brisson) from Vegas.

I don't get it at all. Leaving all merits of this trade aside, how does anyone with authority know enough to leak who's being discussed? If they do, they must be at the very top. And if they are, how do they still have a job??? These discussions must be kept 100% confidential. If nothing comes out of this, how do you expect Tkachuk to care and play after this? I remember Brodie's comment: "the writing was on the wall after Kadri talks".

The tipping point for me will be the prospects involved….B or C prosidcts, go for it. One or two of our A prospects and I’d be pretty uneasy making that deal.
Not surprised Chucky’s name is involved, never thought he’d stay in Calgary long-term anyways.
|
My assumption is this was leaked on purpose to get a 3rd team to swoop in.

Chucky plus seems like way more than anything Vegas is offering. Frankly I dont understand that.

I'm hesitant to move Wolf above all those pieces myself. We need young potential starters in the pipeline. Markstroms not young.

Eichel under contract for 5 years > Tkachuk 9M then UFA
only thing that brings it back closer is the health

While losing Tkachuk would suck, even in Weekes' tweet there is a ton of variance from do it now! to back away from the bottle!
Tkachuk
2024 1st ("upcoming 1 Rd pick")
Zadorov ("former 1st Rd pick) or Trevor Lewis, lol
Boltmann
Feuk
is a lot different than
Tkachuk
2022 1 Rd pick
Valimaki
Zary
Coronato
Also no mention of additions or salary retention by the Sabres.
All I know is I'm pumped. Let's go, Treliving!

Nope nope nope. No thanks. You get Eichel to make sure Tkachuck and JG resign here. Those two and Lindholm are my untouchables and I will be furious if any of the three of them are included
