wonder which type of prospect we're talking about. If we send Tkachuk, Valimaki and a future 1st, including prospects a la Coronato/Pelletier/Zary is too much IMO.

I honestly wished the Flames would pull back from this deal.

Depends what else was coming back. Can't believe it would just be Jack

Tkachuk as a deadline rental returns a 1st +, minimum.

Thank you! Finally someone else agrees that not only is #19 the most important number on a team, but it also needs to be an elite #19 in order to win.

For me this depends who the prospects are.
If its none of Wolf/Pelletier/Zary/Coronato I do that.

Maybe those rumors about Chucky wanting out were true after all

Add to that the contract situation and that Tkachuk has probably been the least effective on that line. We know Lindholm can play RW, and also could remain at centre pending Eichel coming back.
Tkachuk gone also makes the Eichel cap a lot easier to match. If it’s him and Valimaki, they are done.

When we create a new Eichel thread, can we close the old one?

Not this year. He’s a year and a half away from being a rental and that year he costs $9M.

It's hard to win without an elite 19 - it's nearly impossible if your 19 is a scrub.
Case in point.
2004.
Calgary #19 - Oleg Saprykin
Tampa Bay #19 - Brad Richards
We never stood a chance.

Honestly though if anything even remotely close to what Weekes mentioned is on the table then Buffalo is stupid.
Even with his contract uncertainty you should be able to flip Tkachuk to somebody like the Blues for a decent package.

If this is true and is now out, how do you walk back from this if it doesn't go through? Is Chucky to be traded regardless? is that why he has been toeing the line lately and not making much noise but playing great?

So? Foligno got a 1st. Tkachuk is light years better than Foligno. He also helps them win some games this year, as they're not a complete calamity on the ice.
And Buffalo's owner is worth 5700 million dollars. The $9M on Matthew Tkachuk is not going to break him.

Taking a while to get to 5000
|
So, does Tkachuk sulk now that this news has come out?
