I read this as Tkachuk - Valimaki - 2022 first - Parsons and Ruzicka (guesses based on Buffalo needs). I could think that in pure value that would be the strongest offer on the table from any team, but Buffalo is slow to move because they would rather have a centre come back.
Keep in mind that Buffalo recently insinuated that they would retain a small amount of salary and that another piece could come back Calgary's way to even things out, so this might not be Eichel in isolation.

Five pieces?? That is a lot and like others said, Buffalo is crazy not to do it. If they are worried about Tkachuk, flip him to St Louis. They could really change their team quickly.
While I would hate to lose #19, I would probably cross my fingers until the surgery is deemed successful.
Is Zadorov a former 1st?

That is a LOT, but I also don't want to be spending the rest of Eichel's career thinking "what if?", especially if those prospect + pick magic beans don't pan out.
Elite winger + magic beans for a potentially franchise-altering center?
Whatever it takes.

Tkachuk also makes sense if the rumors that Tkachuk wanted out in the summer are actually true.

If Tkachuk is on the table, what other teams would be interested in him, and what can you get for him? As much as I want Eichel, that is a massive trade chip, that could return lower ceiling assets, but also lower risk assets.
Damn bold move

Elite legit #1 don't come on the market often, you draft or get lucky. Go all in.

If Eichel is back to what he was/is, it really isn't.

I don't do that deal if I'm the Flames.

The team is playing like a solid unit.

The Flames line of Gaudreau-Lindholm-Tkachuk is one of the top 3 lines in the league in terms of results and play driving right now. The Flames haven't had a top line like this since Huselius-Langkow-Iginla.
Why would Treliving break that up?

Another thing to consider is if there is anything else coming back from Eichel as well, or if there is a third team involved that will hold back some cap.

I think “former 1st” must be Valimaki. There are a lot of actual former firsts on the team but they’ve all played so much their draft spot isn’t really part of their identity any more. And I don’t think they mean a first who hasn’t played yet, like Zary or Pelletier, though they could be in the prospect slot.

I don't think the "former first-rounder" is a current roster player. I think it's Zary.
So...
- Tkachuk
- 2022 (First-round pick)
- Zary (Former first-round pick)
- Lesser-prospect A
- Lesser-prospect B

Chuck would basically be an equivalent of adding Fox into the Hamilton deal. Adding in a player that has value that you know doesn't have a future in the organization. But would Buffalo even care for Chuck? They'd have the same problem that Carolina had with Fox... he wouldn't want to play for that franchise any more than he would with ours.

Eichel would probably take #19, so we'd maintain an elite presence at the most important number in the sport.

Not if they get Eichel.
Ideally it would be Monahan going the other way but doubt Buffalo wants him.

I'm also not a fan of trading Tkachuk unless he's told the Flames he doesn't want to re-sign here.
I honestly wished the Flames would pull back from this deal.
I think Tkachuk has been playing great actually so far this season, 4 goals already.

something else haha

So who is leaking the framework of an offer?
Buffalo to try and get a 3rd dance partner?
Calgary to put pressure on Buffalo? It seems like most posters here (although maybe biased) think this is a no brainer for Buffalo
Eichel's Agent? Not sure how involved he is in trade discussions/frameworks.
