That's a package I can get behind except conditional 1st that Eichel plays xx games this season.
Or have Buffalo include a conditional 2023 pick coming our way if eichel plays less than 60 games next season.

I don't think it's delusional (a little harsh, no?).
Typically it's not the team that decides to trigger a rebuild out of the blue, but the results on the ice that that dictate things such as roster turnover and drafting higher. That could change the direction really quickly and you can't look at what is happening today and assume the plan carries over two to three years from now.
If an Eichel trade backfires and Gaudreau doesn't sign, it might not even be a decision to rebuild or not.

We will probably have a thread with people posting every time Dube gets a point so you shouldn't miss him too much

What's the old saying... the team that gets the best player wins the trade no matter who/how many else are involved?
I remember first hearing this myself when Joe Thornton was traded away from Boston.
I've watched it be true on pretty much any trade since.
I don't want to say goodbye to any current roster players, and I think the 6-pieces proposal is overpayment, but if that's the price for a top-line centre.....

I like it but the math doesn’t work.
Coming in $12.2m
Going out $8.7m
Something else has to go out.. somewhere. Flames with $1.1m cap space so you need to shed another $2.5m

You should know that I really mulled over an appropriate word to use, which is why I qualified it as a "BIT of a delusion." Sorry about that.
I still think that even within a worst case scenario a rebuild for the Flames is highly unlikely. I have maintained for a long time that a Gaudreau extension seems like it could be tied to an Eichel acquisition, and even if he leaves via free agency, that is not money tbat will simply go unused. With Sutter coaching this team next year it strikes me as quite improbable that the Flames would find themselves much lower in the Standings than the low-20s.
A rebuild is not on tbe horizon.

I can't wait for Eichel and Buffalo to hold a joint press conference where they'll announce they've settled their differences and he's going to get the surgery he wants and he's off the market.

Nikita Zadorov (25%)
Eichel

So he’s saying he’s connected but then saying he doesn’t have much information!?!

Zadorov or Gudbransen become easy cap to move if need be

Which is why protect 2023 1st overall
2023-24 Flames
Mangiapane - Bedard - Tkachuk
Pellettier - Lindholm - Coronato
Coleman - Backlund - Duehr
Eichel LTIR
And then Eichel is magically healthy in time for the 2024 playoffs and OldMan Backlund is 4C

Taking a while to get to 5000
|
lmao how long ago did they post that? Saw Jiri's trade proposal (Girgensons anyway), write it up on HF?
Also what sort of insider gets this info and immediately writes it up on some board? Who is feeding them that much detailed info in the spur of the moment?

There is probably a 1% chance the Flames pick 1st overall next season, that is not the hill you die on

If they trade big assets for Eichel and Eichel doesn't play like a $10 million player, that probability goes up dramatically.

Not really, the team in dead last has a 20% chance
a team with Sutter/Markstrom is not finishing dead last
Its been 40 years with tons of bad teams and the Flames haven't drafted top 3

Insert picture of plastic blue balls
apparently posting that was too much for CP so you will have to use your imagination

Flames retaining on Zadorov makes zero sense. HF is full of crap.
