Coronato
22 1st
23 1st
The stuff off the roster is for cap purposes. Switch Valimaki with Zadorov, because his $4M ticket makes it easier for the math to work.
Monahan may need to go to a 3rd team - that 3rd team could even be Vegas.
These futures buy us Eichel, but they also allow us to not include Dube and Mangiapane, and also improve our chances to retain Gaudreau - I would not be surprised if a Johnny extension was announced along with the Eichel acquisition.
If you were trading Dube or Bread or Johnny, you’d expect a 1st back at minimum anyway.
That’s my read on it, anyway. I could be way off.
|
My thoughts exactly with Gaudreau. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Johnny extension quickly or around the same time as an Eichel acquisition. I hope it happens.

I was all aboard the Eichel train this summer and I am not off yet, but the timing makes me nervous. The team seems to have good chemistry and is rolling along playing four lines and rotating defensemen. My preference is for a trade that doesn't mess with the chemistry too much.

2019. Don't be sold yet.
This is a 5 year move.

That guy has such specific information that I have a hard time dismissing it as just fiction.
Like we said, lined up with maloney scouting Buffalo games.
I am okay with Mony and Dube being the roster forwards going their way. But yeah, you want a decent forward back to help fill in, and one that fits the current style and MO of the team.

Would be sad to see Dube leave though, love the chemistry between him him and Mangiapane.

I have been pretty confident a deal would include one of Dube or Mangiapane. I don't like the idea of it being Dube because I think he will end up being the more valuable of the two in the long run.

Dube is a better alternative to Bread imo.
And Dillon hasn't yet figured out the consistency of production that mangi has. Only some players get over that hump at this level. The rest are simply depth players.

I am not sold but cautious. Timing is important with these kinds of moves.
Still a lot of "if's" in that 5 year move for everything to fall into place. 2019 doesn't worry me - it's a different situation. I mean it's not a sure thing 8 games into the season, but certainly comes with some risk.

I really hate the idea of losing Dube. Maybe I'm sentimental.

Mangiapane has outpaced Dube. Dube simply hasn't been able to show consistency.
Sometimes the price of admission is high, but I'd sure be excited to be going to the Eichel Show in Calgary for the next 5 years.

I'm terrified of decimating our roster for this trade to happen, but this proposal I would do in a heartbeat.

Dube is 23 and Mangiapane is 25. What kind of growth did we see in Eat Bread over the last year and a half?

I hate statements like this.
There’s probably about half the teams in the league that the Sabres don’t want him to end up playing for, another 5-10 teams that probably don’t see him as a fit etc...
To say that 31 teams feel the same way is nowhere near accurate

You can console him in the backseat as I drive threw snow storms to get him to Buffalo.

I feel like if a trade does happen that it would make the most sense to be on Sunday.
Flames play Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday. Then have Sunday, Monday off. Play at home Tuesday before going on a 7 game Eastern road trip.
If you're moving pieces off your roster and need bodies to get in the lineup then making the trade when you have a 2 day break makes the most sense. And you'd want the bodies before that 7 game road trip starts.
