Were Kane's comments as shudder worthy as Toews? I didn't catch them.

If anything it's going to take two years for him to get back to normal. I fully expect his 1st full time season of playing to be full of hesitation, and limited ice time and the Kawhi game management special.

He's not going to come out of the box like brand new.

2 years for full recovery? Is this based on anything substantial? I had read 3-5 months for recovery from my the surgery.

Obviously will take some time to get back into a rhythm and get up to NHL pace, but it’s not like the guy is bed ridden. He’s been an elite athlete since he was 15 years old and was skating during the summer.

2nd season with the new team. He could potentially start getting back to playing hockey after 3-5 months recovery. This isn't plug and play stuff. It's going to take a lot of time to ensure the experimental surgery holds up. I cannot fathom any team rushing him onto the ice. Like I said, it's gonna be similar to how the raptors used Kawhi during his season.

And like I said, in my opinion.

He said an Eichel trade was literally minutes away from happening, and that it was also minutes away from not happening.

In truth, he hasn't been on yet.

Recovery does not mean playing. Recovery could be walking around and having an every day (hopefully pain free) existence. Playing a contact sport at the speed of the NHL could take a lot more time and training.

Okay, let's say he is traded for today, get's the surgery today, and does take just five months to get game ready. That would mean his first game would be April 1st (no irony there). He would be stepping into the playoff push at game 69 of the season, and have more than a full year between shifts. That's a tall order, especially when expectations would be so high. Think it might take a while to get his hands back after not playing for a year, having a new neck, and then having a new team? And that's if everything goes according to plan.

Tim: Did you see this start coming?

Treliving: You never predict that you'll go on a specific run. I know wins and losses get all the play, but you take into consideration HOW your team is playing. The results on the first two games, though were 0-1-1, we were playing well. We weren't giving up a lot, generating a lot of chances. Ultimately you need it turn into wins and points, but our game has been consistent.

Tim: What's the biggest thing you've seen that you like from this group?

Treliving: We've been consistent as a group. The brand of hockey when we're not giving up a whole lot makes us a difficult team to play against. Not a lot of space or room out there for other teams when they play us. It's really early here, but if you can have a consistent game night in, night out and know what you can expect, there's a standard we try to live up to every night.

Tim: There's chatter out there about what happens out there if this doesn't work? Did you feel a lot of pressure?

Treliving: There's always chatter, and people with opinions, but we don't put a lot of stock on that. It's really important to pump the brakes here, we're only a couple of weeks in. I think Darryl and staff have done a remarkable job so far.

Tim: Do you need more out of Sean (Monahan)?

Treliving: I think Sean has found himself in a different role and one of the things I talked to Darryl a lot over the summer was trying to balance our lineup a bit. Sean's really dug in, I think his game has been really good and he's been really committed at both ends of the ice. The game that he's giving us right now is exactly the game we need from him.

Tim: Success is one thing, impact is another. Mangiapane is such a great story. Did you think he was going to develop into the player that he's shown over the last while?

Treliving: We always felt that he'd be a good player. Once Andrew feels comfortable over his career, he becomes successful (talks about Barrie). Nobody puts in the type of work that Andrew does, very few do. He comes early, he stays late.

Nothing on the Eichel rumours! Smells like the Flames asked Tim specifically not to ask about it.

Treliving can't comment directly on Eichel or the rumors. That would be tampering.

No point in even asking.

The 3-5 month thing came from the interview Friedman had with the doctor. I believe they were discussing time to get back playing, but maybe I misunderstood that.

I agree it’s a tall order and will definitely take some time to get back to 100% of his capabilities. I think 2 years of playing is a big exaggeration though.

Heck in all likelihood even an 80% Eichel is still a top 3 player on the Flames

For $10 million a year, he'd better be top 1.

I hope he's a top 1 forward, and we have a defenseman and a goaltender who match his value during the playoffs.

Kravtsov agreed to a contract to play with Traktor in the KHL. It has an NHL out clause, and the approval of the Rangers. I still don't see that relationship being mended.

Another relationship that isn't going to be mended is the Tarasenko situation. I like that he is still playing lights out, even though he is a personal odds with management.

Flames really should go out and snag Kravstov. It's such and easy plug and play fit into RW. Then again, Walker Duehr seems like he might be a surprise performer as well. Line him up with Monny and see what happens.
