The big questions with Vegas for me are: Is Vegas willing to make their 2022 1st unprotected, given their bad start and injuries? Are they willing to subtract a roster player or two from their already-depleted lineup for a player who will be out for most of this season? These are things I think the Flames can afford to do, not sure if Vegas can

Even if Krebs + Hague is on the table, I don't think it's a done deal. I think Zary + Dube + Valimaki or Zary + Pelletier + Valimaki can beat that part of the offer. Guess it just depends on how Buffalo values these pieces.

Last week it was leaked that Anaheim was the favourites. Yesterday it was leaked that Anaheim might have dropped out, and Vegas and Calgary were the teams the loudest in the mix. Now today Vegas is the favourite and it's about to wrap up soon.

IMO there is some clear use of the media here over the last 2-3 weeks to try to get the pacific division teams into a bit of an arms race to acquire Eichel.

I've had a belief since the offseason that the Flames have the best offer on the table for Eichel. No inside knowledge, no inside source, just a gut feeling.

BUT the problem with the Flames offer is that it doesn't have a piece as big as pieces Anaheim could offer (Zegras, Drysdale, Marchment), and it might not even have a piece as good as Krebs (although I think Zary is close), and Buffalo has been waiting to try to pry one of those true grade A prospects from one of those teams, or to see if Calgary would up their offer.

I'm interested to see how this plays off over the next week because IMO this feels like Buffalo trying to manufacture a bidding war among Pacific division teams. And I think Calgary will be involved as long as Vegas/Anaheim don't include Krebs/Zegras/Drysdale/Marchment because they just don't have the pieces to match if those guys are included.

I would expect Eichel's team have some knowledge of the trade talks so they may have talked.

You're also assuming the "leak" is some organizational decision with a purpose, when it also may just be one person with some knowledge doing their own thing. It seems to be human nature for people to gossip and spill secrets.

On the trade front Treliving hasn’t executed anything of note since 2018.

When was the last time a player like Eichel with term, was just up for grabs like this? Doesn't happen very often. How many times has that even happened in Treliving's tenure?

Also, with the way this team is rounding into form, is it worth upsetting the chemistry and trading a way a piece like Mangiapane? What if acquiring Eichel means that Gaudreau and Tkachuk walk.

I want Eichel too, but I'm also at the point where if the price is Mangiapane, I have serious reservations the Flames being in on this.

I don’t get how Vegas can lose a couple of roster players right now ?. Aren’t the rumours are stone could be out until playoffs?
