I heard Serivali's speculation as well.

He speculated that Mark Stone could end up on LTIR perhaps for the whole season which would give Las Vegas the cap space to make a trade for Eichel work for this year at least.

He didn't go to much into what the trade package from Vegas would look like though but that Vegas is in win now mode and has been a player in pretty much every big name over the last couple of years.

It was on 960 I wasn’t able to fully listen but he mentioned the team he keeps hearing about the most with Eichel is the Knights. I am sure it will be up to listen to shortly

except....Eichel may not play this year either. So they would have both on LTIR. Doesnt make sense.

And they tripped and fell flat on their face to start the season with their best forwards going down. Can't imagine McCrimmon wants to deal away the 1st at this point, let alone letting it go unprotected or throw in Krebs / Hague into the deal.

Seravelli is probably looking at this from a cap juggling perspective only in that take tbh. Which is technically achievable. Just don't see Vegas doing it.

If Vegas gets Eichel I might just quit watching the NHL. I hate that team so much. They're in Vancouver/Edmonton territory for me.

I already have to suffer the next decade with McDavid in Edmonton, we don't need Eichel in Vegas too.

Right there with you.

Having them snatch Stone away from us sucked. If they get Eichel too I will have had about enough.

Blame Treliving and ownership, if we had the pieces and were willing to give them up to acquire either of those players the trade would already be done.

His "make the playoffs" mandate and over-valuing of current/past assets hinders most of what he can/is willing to do.

You don't actually have to blame anyone. You can just be upset Vegas got him (if they do) without it.

Ownership and Treliving are to blame for many things that are wrong with, and have been wrong with the Flames for a long, long time.

But Vegas can go #### themselves also.

You are right in saying you don't have to blame anyone, however there are reasons we are unable to acquire these players.
These reasons why we continue to miss out on top tier players in trades is mostly due to mismanagement of assets by the current GM.

Also the other team liking other offers better, other teams overpaying, etc.

Like sure, if we'd drafted higher we would have better pieces to give Buffalo... but what can you do? Suck more?

Stone at least made sense - there was UFA status to consider, and Stone said he’d only extend with Vegas.

This is a player under contract for 5 years, and all we need to do is outbid.

The player is fine coming here.

Sabres management presumably wants to exile the player to just south of Edmonton rather than sending him to Las Vegas and the land of no state tax.

Everyone is aware it’s a gamble. What will Eichel be when he’s had his surgery? Fair enough.

But the organization isn’t rebuilding. They’re not trying to trade Gaudreau and Tkachuk. It may not be what you’d do, it may not be what I’d do, but it’s what they’re doing, and it’s their show.

So act like Vegas and ####ing go for it.

All in.

Yaaaaa Eichel is so coveted by so many teams in the league that they are literally falling over each other in the bidding frenzy to get him….. but lo and behold, crickets…… why? Because he’s not “the one” , the second coming, the golden child. He’s the latest reincarnation of the we need Taylor Hall now or the world will come to an end insanity. Eichels greatness lives in the minds of the Buffalo GM and a few people on Calgary Puck lol.

You can't even argue with simpleton's like this.

Like trying to argue with a pro-diseaser.

Because there’s a flat cap, nobody has any money, and there is a medical issue involved that makes it a wild card.

Eichel is a super talented player, of Gaudreau’s caliber at the very least.

We’re in a position to get that player, for basically futures + non-core players.

No, no, noooo...

Didn't you know that because Eichel hasn't been traded yet it clearly means he is nothing but garbage that nobody wants?

There can be miracles, when you believe. Though hope is frail, it’s hard to kill.
