Dube has been playing as a winger for most of his Flames career. He may have a ceiling of a 2nd line center but that really means nothing.

None of this is evidence of anything. I don’t even know what you’re talking about. Had this surgery failed people more often than not before? In particular, professional athletes? You made the claim.

Not that, him being traded vs Valimaki guts our center position and could push us into a lottery position. That’s all I am saying. Not saying Dube is elite, saying he is a 2/3 center (2 at peak). If you include him then no Zary/Pelletier

I’m sure it’s been mentioned, but Thursday is Jack Eichel’s 25th birthday. So he will be gifted a trade to the Flames on Oct 28th at 2:50pm

A while back in another thread I posted a study of athletes who had disk replacement surgery. The study was from 2007 and I am sure that things have changed since then. While the study concluded mostly positive results and most athletes could return to their sport, something like 8% actually had to quit due to pain and mobility issues. They also said that 30% were able to continue but had diminished output due to pain. It is also worth mentioning that the athletes were spread among several sports that were mostly non-contact sports. No hockey players were included.
So 62% of the surgeries would have been considered 100% successful, which is good, but do you bet $50 million on those odds? I stress that it was an old study and the procedures have likely improved, but I just don't think the data is there to confirm high rates of success, especially in a sport like hockey.
Also of concern is that it will be a whole calendar year that Eichel will have not played or engaged is physical practice. That could be a big problem as well. Not too many players can take a year off and regain their top form.

I didn’t say to. I said your post of it being a “good chance” that he’d be 80% Eichel was bull.

Ok…… the chance of him being 100% vs 80% is pretty close…. But whatever

Would OTT consider parting with Batherson for M. Tkachuk?
Fair trade?

As of currently? Not even close.
When matt costs 9 million it might be a different story though.
Edit: misread. Yes, but we aren't giving him up for Batherson.

Right now he’s playing like a guy that will have a short career.
If Monny wants to be traded, he needs to show he’s healthy ( he can’t stay healthy until he gets healthy) and playing at a level commensurate with his cap hit.
That would create a market for him.

It’s such a small sample size, it’s largely irrelevant, in that it doesn’t change his perceived value. Which may already be high, depending on your view.

lol "sell the farm".
Listen fellas, we don't have a single piece on the farm that's '62%' as good as eichel, so if there's a 62% chance that we could get a fully healed Eichel we should be jumping all over it. Sell all the prospects. Who cares about them anyways? If we get Eichel and it works out there wont be spots for them on the roster. If we get eichel and it doesnt work we need a rebuild. If we don't get Eichel, it's unlikely our current group of prospects is good enough to not require additional rebuilding or something if the roster as is doesnt stay together (I am not convinced the current roster can stay together without a move like Eichel.)
The farm we have isn't some piece of prize land. It's a fallow piece with a couple of nice looking shrubs.

Deep down inside, surely most of us knew that this was the way this would all inevitably end.

Can you elaborate a bit more?
