Wow I am incredibly impressed with Lindholm’s production. Love how they’re in every game.

A win with a back up goalie on the road in Washington ? Ummmm yes please.

I can see that happening but I felt Valimaki had a solid 3rd period after some fumbles earlier in the game. Nice to see him settle down - could have easily gone the other way for a young player.

Rewatching the Lindholm shorty, I think that's the best individual effort goal of the season so far. (sit down, Connor)

I love how good our top line has been at even strength. That's what you need!

This is the first season in a long time the Flames will be able to play a playoff hockey style heavy game with teams built solid like the Caps. The additions of Gubranson, Coleman, Lewis, and Pitlick definitely bring size and heavyness to their game without over committing and out of the play. Dube and Mangiapane are no shrinking violets either for lightweights.

Also hard to complain about having potentially the biggest goalie tandem in the league between the posts.

They needs to keep playing him.

Everyone is so butthurt he hasn’t developed as quickly as he probably would have by now if not for injuries, but need to remember he just turned 23.

He will improve. Look no further than Kylington who has taken significant strides since last year.

First real Johnny game of the season, folks. And although the 2nd was ugly after the intermission they came out and out-scoring-chanced the Caps 9-3 in the third. That's the kind of turnaround you like to see.

Coaching: it actually matters.

Overall this has been a better start to the season than I expected. First game in Edmonton I think they were still shaking off the rust, and they were dominant but unlucky against the Ducks. With the exception of today's 2nd period they've actually looked quite good over these last 3 games.

None of those guys were remotely impactful today, outside of some PKing. Gudbranson also took an unecessary interference, even if it was a dive by the other guy.

Whatever fits the size narrative though, I guess.

Some of his plays were caused by cheap shots as well. I mean, he’s got to play through those, but I think his learning curve is still pretty steep because he’s been protected so much.

Coleman was great.

Gudbranson was really solid again.

Lewis and Pitlick were fine.

We know you don't value physical play, so it is delicious that you are claiming their post fit a narrative.

Not necessarily this afternoon, but as far the internal culture/identity the dressing room knows they aren’t getting pushed around this year, whereas the last few years if a team like the Caps pushed hard like in the 2nd the Flames couldn’t shift the tide back. Throughout this season the Sutter low chances given heavy boardplay instills confidence throughout the lineup.

But yes, you are correct, the players I listed didn’t show up in the stats.

I think the d pairings are fine now…might see Zadorov get in because Valimaki had a tough first 40.

And top line is good.

But lines 2-4 need work.

Mangiapane - Monahan - Coleman
Dube - Backlund - Pitlick
Lucic - Richardson - Lewis

Let’s give that a shot

I am of the opinion that they have to play Valimaki. He just looked nervous but as soon as he got some minutes under him it was like night and day.

It reminds me Engelland who people thought was awful because he was getting like 4 minutes a night, once he actually played a bit he was like a completely different player.

I think Valimaki has what it takes, you just have to let him play himself into a groove.

Need to put only top 9 talent in the top 9.

Ritchies, Lewises, Richardsons belong on line four.

Don’t think he’s gonna talk about why our goals are only being scored by players with a 2 or an 8 in their number.
