Missed the game.
Sounds like it went exactly one would expect.
So much to be excited for this season.

Go read the game thread...tons of complaints about Gudbranson he was good.
Also blaming Zadorov for Tanev's mistake
not to say Zadorov was good

He thought Lindholm ran out of gas. And Monahan not yet up to speed.
Yeah they need 4 lines and 4 centremen. Shouldn’t be that hard to figure out Calgary Flames.

Hard to win games against the Oilers when McLovin gets 3 goals.
I still think this team is a work in progress considering all the changes to the roster this season. Getting Coleman and Pitlick back in the lineup is going to help.
Still worried about the defence and how it will fair over a 82 game season.

I’m mostly worried about where the goals are going to come from.
Not a lot of room for error with this team.
They keep the goals against to two or less, they have a chance.
If the opposition scores three it will be pretty hard for this collection of players to create four goals. .

3. Zadorov played way too much.
4. Lucic is welcome to show up anytime against the oilers. He might have been the softest player tonight. No surprise though.
Hon. mentions to Valimaki and Gudbranson who held their own.

Yeah, if Lucic want to go easy on his former teammates then trade his ass!! I’m sick of him being a no show when the fake guy tough guys like Nurse and Cave man show up. How about sticking up for your current teammates Looch!

Ya, it wasn't a surprise at all. Love the guy but you know what you're getting from him in an Oliers game.

I thought the Flames played well overall, would have liked to see another forward in the lineup instead of a 7th Dman who didn't play very much, Kylington had like 3 minutes.
Had Coleman been playing it might have been a different outcome. Markstrom was ok but I think he will be a lot better, I think it was 4 goals on 26 shots at one point and the Flames got 47 on Smith, so there's the difference right there. Sure the Oilers have McDavid but still.
What I wonder about is the Flames don't have very much depth if somebody doesn't play or gets hurt like Coleman tonight.
I think they'll be okay without Gio.

Tonight demonstrates why you go out and trade for gamebreaking talent when its available.
Gaudreau, Tkachuk and Lindholm shrinking in the face of a challenge on the big stage as they have frequently in the last two years. And then they show up when you least expect or need them to.
Meanwhile guys like Mangiapane and Dube can get things done just fine in the same situation. We need more players with those guys DNAs.
While the top guys will have their moments surely, we still invested in the wrong core talent because they don't get it done when the team really needs them to come through, and within the context of this game, help to mount that comeback and not fade away after the 4-2 tally.
Meanwhile the Oilers can get away with McDavid and Draisaitl doing 90% of the work with Smith standing on his head. It's a joke, it's not a team effort solution, yet it is more effective than us giving everything we've got up and down the line up with middle end talent.
I hope the Flames end up making the move to get Jack Eichel, even at the high cost of doing so.

Lindholm scored one of the two goals and Tkachuk assisted on it and had 8 shots
Somehow Dube was better?

Tkachuk was great tonight. So was Gudbranson, incredibly.
They need to split Tanev and Zadorov, that pairing is a recipe for disaster.

I watched very little of the second half of the game, I was just done after the awful calls earlier in the game that sewered our great early play. I only saw Dube, Mangi, Valimaki and the Tkachuk assist on the scoresheet.
The top guys still fizzled out after JP tallied back. Needed them to keep pushing and get another.
Gaudreau reverted to ineffective perimeter play from what I saw.
Point still stands. Invest in top talent. Pay the price. It's a necessity to succeed.

Meh. I'm feeling indifferent about eichel. Make mangiapane captain and trade everything else of value. Then hope we get Wright or Bedard over the next few years. I think that would be best.
