I’m not sure at all how attached he is to home town. It’s often overrated. It really depends on how realistic he is about who will want him otherwise. He might waive if he sees his role here diminishing, because it means less points and less dollars next contract. Buffalo has some good pieces to build with and will be an up and coming team if the draft works out well for them and he can be the main guy in the interim, leading to a nice end to his career next contract.

Gaudreau - Eichel - Tkachuk would be ridiculous. Ridiculous.

Team USA would just keep them together for the Olympics

Oh great.
Now every time I open up CP, I'm hoping to see "Eichel traded to Calgary" again.
I mean it's to have hope and all, but it's been like 3-4 months of this off and on.

Yup as soon as I am convinced it won’t work and the Flames are out I get sucked back in more convinced each time it will happen. Luckily I think there will be a resolution to this soon and hopefully it is a celebration and not frustration

If we’re still dreaming about this I’m dreaming big. No one off the top 23 gets moved for Eichel, he’s back in time for playoffs TBay style. Let’s do this.

If Brisson is Owen Power’s adviser… maybe he tells Adams that he will advise Power to go NHL next year. Maybe that’s a background carrots to help move Eichel along.

I think it’s more likely Brisson tells Adams the Sabres treatment of their players has been deplorable and Power is happy to stay in Michigan until he hits UFA.
‘Clean your S*** up, Buffalo’.

What is the expected recovery time on Eichel after surgery?
Asking because some posters seem to think that the Flames would have a "one year window" this season with an Eichel trade and I was under the impression that the surgery would keep him out for most (of not all) of the season? Is the recovery time only a few months?

I believe he would be back in February if he got the surgery right away. If he debuted March 1st he would still be able to play 28 games down the stretch

If he was traded for right now and proceeded with surgery/recovery plan ASAP it should put him into potentially coming back to play most likely sometime at or just before playoffs much like Kucherov/Tampa last year.
Edit: Vinny nailed it, even more reg season time than I thought would be possible if we acquired him this week.

And if he doesn’t come back in time to get the Flames into the POs, maybe they tank and start the following season with Eichel AND one of the big draft picks.

^^^ that’s why if we are trading a 1st(‘s??) it’s gotta have conditions attached and or be the 2023 1st

His agent was on Marek's show and said 3-4.5 month recovery time.

I’ve always advocated for conditions and it’s a reasonable ask.

I am sure Adams is feeling the pressure now.
He is going to get roasted for what he gets in return for Eichel. It isn't really his mess - that mess has been a work in progress since Eichel was first drafted, but instead of celebrating the drafting of a franchise-level superstar centre, your organization complains about how they can't draft the other guy.
With Brisson, it adds another wrinkle. Power has already stated he is returning to the NCAA instead of the NHL right away. I am betting if almost any other team drafted him, he would be in the NHL right now. No point in playing through at least one really lousy year in Buffalo, especially with all that drama.
I don't suppose for a second that Power is going to want yet another year in the NCAA. That pushes his career earnings back, his UFA year another year away, and there is always the chance of getting a career ending injury, even in the NCAA. I wouldn't think that Power would want to risk any of that (I was actually surprised he decided to go back in the first place, even though Buffalo is terrible).
I think Brisson would not be shy in encouraging Power to demand a trade. I think that's the real 'power' Brisson has (bad pun, I know). Not since Lindros. We talk about it as fans when talking about Edmonton (and rightly so, that crap organization deserves it). Buffalo? Yep, this is going to be a difficult situation in dealing with Eichel and Brisson now, I think. Maybe I am putting too much thought into it, but it is odd that Power went back in the first place. Wouldn't be too much of a stretch to think he would demand a trade from an organization that just treated their last bona fide superstar terribly.

If everyone is insisting on conditions, I hope Treliving is floating a lesser package but with no conditions.

Tkachuk for Eichel 1 for 1 makes sense.
