Again. The statement Sigalet found him is false is true. He didn't find Rittich the scouts did.

It's good to have Darryl as our coach now, at least we know that's solid.

Perfect.

Until the moment he said “Eric provides some stability”. That’s Eric Gudbransen. lol.

I don't think Sutter cares too much about a good look. I think the decision ultimately falls on Sutter in that regard. Also, you'd think that with the amount of energy the Flames spend on worrying about a good look they'd be a more attractive destination for players.

Winning, and a winning culture makes you look good as an organization. I get it's only preseason, but Zadorov was Calgary's 7th or 8th best defense-man in preseason. I get that he is a vet, and he gets paid handsomely, but he is a smart enough dude to realize he needs to step up ASAP.

Finally, it was very telling in Sutter's interview today regarding the D. He said he is pretty sure of how Ras and Noah are gonna play. He followed it with "thankfuly we got Tanny and Erik to give us some stability, and we need other guys to step up". Which essentially means Gudbranson is on the team for the opening game. That leaves 2 spots for Zadorov, Kylington, and Valimaki. Does Kylington sit after a great camp? Does Valimaki sit despite his potential? or Does Zadorov sit despite his contract?

What did Darryl mean about being informed that Johnny was hurt "but that wasn't true either?"

That Sutter interview cements that Gubrandson was on his suggestion.

Laughing hard at myself for saying this, but I forgot he even played.

That's how invisible he was.

Well keep it up, Ghostbranson.

That's a tough one. My guess is the 6 we saw tonight:

Hanifin - Andersson
Kylington - Tanev
Valimaki - Gudbranson

But I wouldn't be surprised if Zadorov is in Valimaki's spot. In fact, I am changing my answer:

Zadorov - Gudbranson

I wouldn't be surprised to see no Kylington, tbh. But I do think Valimaki deserves to sit more out of the two younger guys. I'd prefer to see them both, though.

Really funny that Darryl may have very well fired a shot at CP after the 3 minute mark.

Not many other places would you find rampant complaining about the signings eating up spots for young players.

He said he listens to Loubo on the fan religiously. Who's to say he doesn't scan through the boards too? He seems more plugged into the noise than most.

This might be the rantings of man with too many Moscow mules down his gullet but I have not had an issue with Grubranson's play the past few games. He's solid in the defensive end and more times than not makes the right play. I'm not as nervous as I was when the he first signed. Of course keep his minutes low and the competition light but he seems serviceable.

I like Gawdin. He's better than Ryan and I liked Ryan. He makes the team.

The Kylington-Gudbranson pairing was destroyed at 5-on-5 tonight FWIW. Out-chanced 7-0.

I hope that Valimaki and Kylington both make the team. I hope neither of these young players are placed on waivers to be sent down.

I have a feeling this would be the year for Kylington to be claimed. He has looked very good in camp and I feel like it would be a similar situation to what happened with Paul Byron… the team signed veterans like Mason Raymond rather than give a developing guy who was progressing well a shot on the permanent roster. That lead to him being claimed and flourishing with another team.

Damn.. that sucks to hear.

How was Valimaki-Tanev as a pairing? I'm going to guess Kylington was a better fit there.
