My wife is also a nurse. Anecdotally speaking, those coming into that hospital sick with covid are overwhelmingly (85%+) unvaccinated.

One of the parents of a kid on my son's soccer team is a nurse, and is also anti-mask and anti-vaccine. I am struggling to piece together how that even works.

I think a lot of this argument the last few pages boils down to semantics.
From my perspective, I have zero sympathy for idiots like Archibald. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Lose your career and perhaps have serious side effects for the rest of your life because you were an idiot that actively denied science and all the best available research.... oh well. Sucks to suck. The exact same goes for any idiot that actively avoids getting the vaccine because they are too stupid to trust science - grandma or hockey player.
I do think we have a moral responsibility to care for the morons amongst us. If a child is playing with a lawnmower even though they should know better, we still care for them. If someone is in a car accident because they were driving too fast, we still provide that medical care to save their life.
If, however, we are in the middle of a pandemic and are short of hospital beds, and a decision needs to be made to provide those life saving procedures/resources to person A (who did everything right, got the vaccine, was social distancing, etc but still contracted COVID due to no fault of their own) or person B (someone who actively avoided the vaccine and spread easily debunked misinformation about the pandemic) I know who I'd put out on the street.
Even if we do have the resources that we could provide services to both those two people, I'd like to see a bill for the wasted time/resources sent to person B. If you want to be an idiot, take responsibility for your actions and accept the consequences. In this case, that likely means the loss of his career, and it should mean the loss of significant funds to pay for medical resources he consumed that could have gone to more deserving people.
At the end of the day, I don't wish death on Archibald or any other Covidiot. I won't waste my time shedding one single tear at their misfortune, and I will laugh with derision at anyone who does. I will feel sympathy for their family that mourns their loss (should they die), but ultimately will think that they won the stupidest of all prizes for their stupid game.

Being the night janitor at a hospital doesn't really count in this context.

This... is horse####.
I'm sure there are some flat earthers working at hospitals that do call it "the clot shot", like Textcritic's nurse "friend". That doesn't make it in any way a majority of actual medical or scientific professionals, nor does it provide any more validity to those claims than the flat earthers provide for their claims.
At this point, anyone who claims there is MORE risk in getting the vaccine than there is in NOT getting the vaccine should be mocked and ridiculed. They should by shunned by polite society, and lose all credibility as their ability to think rationally is clearly impaired.
The time to play nice and provide more information and try to bring them up to an acceptable standard has passed. Some people are just idiots.
As George Carlin famously said "think of how stupid the average person is... and then realize that half of them are even stupider than that". These vaccine deniers are in the shallow end of the gene pool.

Damn! I missed it!
What was it? That the vaccine was developed by the Aliens to thwart the inevitable Lizard-Man conspiracy to overthrow the secret Cabal of Flat-Earthers?
That one is my favourite!

That's the funny thing about it. The extremely rare adverse effects of getting the vaccine are the same adverse effects that COVID can cause more frequently than the vaccine. I don't understand how some people don't get this or think that they can just go their entire life avoiding COVID and never catching it. It would be like trying to avoid getting a cold. You might do it for a while, but everyone eventually gets one. Might as well arm up your immune system with antibodies through a vaccine than deal with the harsher consequences down the road. You will still likely get COVID at some point, but at least your immune system will be more ready for it.

Would love for Archibald to reply to that one. Must be something in the water...or something.
