That’s really interesting.

It would be nice if, since they found it of value, they found some way to reward you

This actually gets to the heart of my question.

Can a moderator (or site owner for that matter) get into a back and forth or comment on one side if they find it silly?

I was told I was being childish and shouldn't do it as I'm an owner. Tex is being told he's toxic and escalates things.

I know personally I've become more engaged in the site of late. I really haven't been in the "wars" since my health battle and had taken a step back. Lately I find it necessary to push back on the negativity (just my opinion) and make it a little less comfortable for those that seem to get off on drive bys and snide remarks.

This is supposed to be fun.

There are certainly some fans that are nothing but rainbows and puppy dog tails but I'm not one of them.

Yet this change in my posting pattern has had me questioned three times in a month on the ethics of owning a site and getting into the battles. If someone says a grade 7 student could do a better job running the team it was suggested I couldn't push back calling the guy out for saying such a silly thing.

The vax thing was completely nuts.

Idk man, I would say taking the piss out of another poster is just fine. A post like Text's? At least it's funny, lightens the mood a little bit when the heat goes up. But, most importantly: if someone is taking the piss, whether they're a mod or not has literally zero relevance. And unnecessary escalation? It's a hockey forum man, for fun. Sometimes taking the piss is fun. You get that, right? We're all having fun here, or trying to? Including mods? They're allowed to have fun, too.

I didn't enjoy your post though, no, way too cringe for me. The secondhand embarrassment I had from reading what you "learned" about Text and how you would act as a mod was too much. Super corny.

As an aside, you seem to use the reading comprehension line a lot (or maybe it's just a few guys you blend with), but reading isn't actually as difficult as you think it is. If people are having trouble comprehending your posts, you could try posting better. Usually, when people can't comprehend one of my posts it's because I've written it like an idiot, which happens.

^ no offence, I honestly don’t care all that much what you think of my posts. But I would ask you to read them in Morgan Freeman’s voice

I wouldn’t really change the “if I were a mod” part. It should be read pretty much as written

I didn’t think saying a poster was loudly typing and yelling at his monitor was terribly funny. Sorry. Sounded like a dick thing that added no value and was escalatory if anything

When you see somebody doing something you think is unproductive, some people say “that’s no good, don’t do that”. Others say something along the lines of “if it was me doing that, I might think about doing it like this”. Or “I have seen others use this approach”. That is a more diplomatic approach.

Corny? Again, I don’t care a lick what you think of me or my posting style. I lose literally zero sleep over anything I read here

I honestly have no idea where you came up with the idea that it was floating a resume to be a mod. If you read what I wrote as written, we don’t need to discuss reading comprehension

But that’s precisely what it was

And btw, my other post that you refer to about reading comprehension - yes, I did recently use that, which is why I referred back to it here - was an observation of poster whose name implies having good reading comprehension, responding to another poster, and making representations which were not quite accurate

So does that mean there is a chance the fan discussions and feedback happening here does make it back to the organization?

I would say every season ticket holder event starting with "So who's here from CP" is an indication that they pay very close attention to this site. It'd be weird not to, really.

No offence taken. Do you think anyone cares about what you think of their posts? Probably not, but that didn't stop you, right? Does it stop any of us? No, so what's the point in saying you don't care?

The bolded is a bit generous and kind of misses the point of what I was saying. Your post wasn't corny because it wasn't read in Morgan Freeman's voice (lol, come on), it was corny because of the content. It's embarrassing to follow Text around saying "oh, I've learned such things about you because of your posts! you enjoy conflict! Were I a mod I would discourage conflict! blah blah"

Like yeah dude, we get it. But mods are literally just other random people who make sure people dont say racist stuff and threaten to kill each other, or whatever. "Should I have the responsibility of a moderator"? As if volunteering time on a website means you can't take the piss? If anything, volunteering should mean you get to take twice the piss. Is that a thing?

You and the crowd that constantly brings up the mod/site owner stuff to Bingo and Text and the rest when they post are just kind of embarrassing. Find a more productive hobby. I can't imagine evaluating a poster's content based on whether they're a mod or not.

^ holy hell, you don’t have a clue. I have no agenda against mods / owner or any nonsense like that. Check my post history

It is a fact that people are talking about the site being more toxic lately.

I expressed one little opinion that if I was a mod, I wouldn’t be escalatory. And here you are, ranting

Lol I miss when you would just thank somebody else’s insulting posts, can we go back to that? Thanks

This is in no way meant suggest anything on what happened with that vaccine misinformation battle here or take things too off topic, but I think it is important to point out that the idea of censoring obvious misinformation is not nuts.

It's actually happening and every major social media/message board etc is wrestling with it, with youtube recently announcing they will remove all Covid misinformation. Because it's become that powerful.

Again, not making a big deal of it, but just suggesting the disastrous effect of misinformation being spread through our society right now and the need of major discussion platforms to do something or at least heavily contemplate what to do about is not as crazy as you made it out to be in that thread.

Luckily CP is a pretty well educated board, relative to a lot of social media circles and platforms.

But you still see some pretty blatant misinformation here and there, thankfully the person usually looks crazy amongst a lot of smart, well informed posters, as opposed to bigger platforms where they actually convince lots of people of an alternate reality that leads to more death and lockdowns due to Covid.
