Any sort of effective campaign marketing strategy is non-existent for most of these people running for mayor, it would appear. Gondek, Farkas, and Davison already have an edge being incumbents, and the only real reason I know about KJJ and Hallelujah is because they’re f-cking nuts. If I hadn’t gone and looked at the list of candidates, you could have fooled me that there even are any others.

There are no Nenshis in this year’s mayoral race. No one outside of the incumbents, in my view, are really making any noise to move the needle.

Yeah, Tyers seems to be running the most active campaign. He website has 5 planks.

If I were to summarize them I'd say two are about not stealing/openness, which is presumably targeted at the incumbent.

Two more are about lower taxes, and one is about spending more on snow removal. Those seem like opposing ideas to me, which I find a bit concerning in terms of being realistic.

I just hope there isn't a massive split between Tyers and Wyness that somehow allows Magliocca to squeak in. Wyness still seems to be the more unanimous choice in my searches today, even though she has seemingly been quiet thus far. She did finish a fairly close second to incumbent Magliocca last election who was then without scandal. I'm going to watch the proceedings very closely before deciding on Tyers or Wyness.

At this point, Magliocca probably figures he has nothing to lose by running again. His re-election announcement hopefully refreshes the memories of those who may have forgotten about his ways over the past 24 months and gets them out to vote for an alternate. His announcement has pissed a lot of people off as I think there was some assumption that he would not have the audacity to run again. He is quickly deleting all negative comments about his re-election announcement from his Facebook page, and as usual not responding to any media requests for interview. Such a deplorable.

People also need to reminded that he refused to comment if he vacationed out of country last Christmas where it was widely reported he was in Cabo San Lucas while most of the populous remained grounded due to the pandemic.

I've had the opposite experience, other than seeing his website when I reviewed all the candidates, this is the first time I've seen Tyers name come up at all. Everyone on Reddit seems to be trying to spread Wyness' name around as much as possible
Like you said, whoever gets rid of Mag gets a thumbs up

Wyness did exceptionally well against him last election, especially considering budget discrepancies. I would place her as a centrist.
Kim Tyers used to work for Michelle remple I believe. So I'm assuming pretty hard right.

I don't know much about Arahana, but he does seem to have a decent sign game.

In Ward 5, I'm trying to decide between Tudor Dinca and Raj Dhaliwal. Both have platforms that sound decent to me. I'm afraid Aryan Sadat will win. He was second last time around and has had signs all over the place for months now. And he seems to have a big contingent of supporters who are loud and annoying, but are likely getting attention.
So, basically as of right now, I would like to vote for whichever of the first two has a better chance of beating him. I'm not sure who that is though.

I met Craig Chandler last night, seems like a nice enough dude but I'm not sure how truthful he was. He had mentioned being a campaign worker/manager for about 5 city politicians, owner/CEO of a few companies I've never heard of and generic answers to my questions. He lost a lot of my interest when I asked who he was voting for mayorally, he said he "would hold his nose and vote Farkas". I'll respect the man's honesty with that 1 question though.

I still find this election more difficult to decide who to vote for.
My wife and I were in Davidson's ward and he actually did something about the speeding issue we had in our community. So its an easy vote for Mayor.

Problem will be our Councillor. We are in Ward 11 and everyone's platform seems similar. So it seems like a popularity contest, which I shouldnt be surprised.

A conservative activist and head of a small business group is organizing a slate of candidates for Calgary's next municipal election in 2021.

Craig Chandler with the Progressive Group for Independent Business made the announcement at a western separatist rally in Calgary on Saturday.

Do these peopel have no souls? I don't know about Demong, but the other 3 are the worst possible representatives Calgarians could have. The Progressive Group for Independent Business has just made the list of worst political organizations in Canada. They clearly don't care about making the city bettrer only their stupid ideologies. Being in power is the only thing that matters. Please don't vote for these clowns.

He's very much a two face.

He was at my door a few weeks ago. If I knew who he was I'd have slammed the door in his face. When he asked something about my concerns for council, I mentioned how I could never vote for Farkas and he agreed saying he was going to vote for some obscure candidate.

The only thing he seemed honest about was when he said that he didn't like Jason Kenney because he was "too liberal."

I'm glad that I only gave him a few minutes. I did some research after he left and wish I could have called him out on some of the garbage he's spewed in the past.

DJ Kelley's people just stopped by. Seams reasonable enough. Will do some more research, but probably the best choice for Ward 4.

I actually think Magliocca will win easily based on name recognition alone. I'd love to see a run-off for any seat where a candidate fails to get 50% of the vote. I can see Joe getting 25-30% of the vote and the rest being split between the rest of the candidates.
By any objective reasoning, he should have been charged criminally for what he did.
