Tough two years on Andersson there bud. On this world, Andersson struggled with mobility in his own end and was useless after 30 seconds of D-zone time. I think it is delusional to think that Barrie is far off from what Rasmus does in the D-zone.
Yeah maybe go back to what I said.. I didn't say who I coached or played for. Your opinion is irrelevant there lol

I do wonder if this means we are moving a d-man...

I mean there has to be a trade coming involving at least one of these pieces right? Otherwise what the hell is the plan? I realize that last sentence has been the problem with the Flames that past couple of seasons.

Unless they trade someone away, he's the 7th-highest paid d-man on the team.
They're either going to be paying him that much to play in Stockton or to sit in the press box in Calgary, or they'll be paying someone else even more to sit in the press box in Calgary so that he can play.
All things being equal, playing him in Stockton until there's an injury on D likely makes the most sense.

Either that or they just want to get bigger. At least they can crush or face punch their way to 8-10th place this year. Really hoping there is more in the works but it should be entertaining if they aren't in the penalty box all year.

So, why did we need EB?
The fuq Treliving.
So concerned with having enough players to ice every night in case of injuries that you don't bother to worry about whether they'll be any good.
One thing's for sure, Treliving teams will never be short on replacement level players! Just an absolutely crucial part of icing a solid NHL team.
Want to make a deal at the deadline? Well forget about that wiggle room you had to take on some salary. We were totally in on that one guy, but we inked Gudbrandson and Richardson last fall and said trade partner won't retain so shucks, too bad.
This organization loves handcuffing itself for literally no reason at all. All in the name of getting that coveted 8th seed.
Keeping that dream of mediocrity alive.
Meanwhile a team like Ottawa hacks the whole thing to the ground, didn't care about vet depth, gave reigns to their prospects and were still trending to be as good or better than us despite not addressing depth positions by throwing money at dumbass nothing signings like our last couple (Stone is an exception).
Maybe try something different for once. If the club had any kind of read on the pulse of its fanbase it would see that fans here would welcome Philips, Ruzicka and Pellitier getting NHL time. Much more than some hard hitting neanderthals no one else would sign.
Just another year where this washed up ex-coyotes management continues to define insanity by doing what its always done to get underwhelming results trying to resurrect 2003 and bore a western conference fanbase to death in its seats.

Ive played and coached/GM at the Junior hockey level so I know what I am looking at. Im taking Barrie over Rasmus if comparing the two. Barrie is a high risk high reward D man, while Rasmus continues to battle fitness issues (I must be blind to be the only one here to say that he had apparent conditioning issues last year..again).

Having Sutter pulling the strings doesn't matter much if we don't have an iggy to lead the way.
Landing Eichel remains paramount to salvaging an offseason that started lukewarm and quickly went south to awfultown.
There isn't a true gamebreaker on the team. It can be done by committee but you still need that guy.
Believing we don't need that guy and just need to be harder hitting is straight delusion.

I think that they trade Dube and Mangiapane for some veteran depth help on defense. The key to winning is six full pairings. Five is too few.

Add in Welinski. I have a feeling there’s a trade coming. I’d guess valimaki is leaving.

If a defenseman were to go, with these additions, I would guess Andersson.
Hanifin - Tanev (Defacto first pairing)
Zadorov - Kylington (opposite type pairing, could work really well)
Valimaki - Gudbranson (another vet/rook pairing)
Mackey - Stone (good enough to play NHL games)

This was the expected signing. Surprised they signed Gudbranson if Stone was re-signing, though I guess they are a bit different. Gudbranson is a much more physically imposing defencemen than Stone is, and can also do a very good job of intimidating the opposing team. Still, that's a lot of bodies now on D.

But they also have Zadorov for physicality.
The Gudbranson signing is tough to figure.

Same thing here, really
Valimaki - XXXXX
Best out of Mackey, Kylington, Kinvall, or anyone else they happen to bring in.
