Hopefully this means that Buffalo’s ask is finally coming down.

I don't want to get excited about Eichel news because I don't want to be disappointed if we don't land him. I would rather have the mindset we won't get him so it won't be a downer if we don't. Who am I kidding, I will still be pissed if a team like the Ducks get him.

Honestly, the ducks getting him feels like such a strange move for them. I don’t feel they’ve even bottomed out yet on their rebuild so it feels like they’d be rushing their rebuild trying to get him now. Especially if they give up first round picks to get him - which is likely.

I read somewhere it was reported that the Ducks were looking to make a hockey trade including Gibson and one more player, most likely Josh Manson would be my guess. They have said no to including any of their big 3 prospects.

https://www.markerzone.com/news/?54882&s=100

Can’t see Buffalo wanting a goaltender to win them games next season while they try and tank with a 50 year old Craig Anderson in net instead.

Course Tree went and pissed more money away on a knockoff Brad Richards, making working the money out on a deal a little bit harder.

At least with $3M in space, Monahan or Tkachuk alone would make up the difference.

It's never made sense for the Ducks to acquire Eichel. And if they did, it sets the rebuild waaay back.

If they didn't sign Richardson, one of Ruzicka (same cap hit) or Gawdin (only 50k less) would presumably be in his place. Cap space works out the same.

Should be a priority that a division rival like Vegas or Anaheim doesn't get him. Obviously seeing a final four team in Vegas fill the only hole they have in their roster would suck. Would also hate to see Eichel go to Anaheim and succeed Getzlaf, a player he was compared to in his draft year and be a pain in the backside for years to come.

My hope is that Tre goes back to them and offers what he has been and basically be like, we've been consistent and had made a reasonable trade offer and even now when things may have changed, we still offer you the same (ie. not trying to short-change them now).

Not sure how much "good faith" has in a scenario like this but can't hurt in my mind?

Don't worry there is still some time left in the off-season and if by miracle something does happen during this time, be prepared to be called out by a big bunch on this board.

If/when nothing happens, then it will switch to..."well its a long season, so wait till the trade deadline" or "how often to big trades happen in-season"...you get it...This feels like the GM is putting all his eggs in the coaching change, AGAIN.

I would guess this will be his excuse this time, he brought in a veteran coach so it's not his fault.

That’s a better argument about the stat. And on another post, I highly doubt faceoffs are counted as puck battles.

More speculation from the fan this morning and Warrener speculation that he'd spoken with a former player out of Buffalo (has to be Razor) about Eichel....stating the obvious that the neck is really bad.
Also Eichel hired Pat Brisson (new agent) and now they are re visiting teams who made offers.
Making it sound like Jack is more determined than ever that he won't be returning.

Roasted? Shouting down?

Or ... just pointed out that maybe more change is coming with the time on the calendar and the cap space?

Hope you guys recovered from that verbal beating.

Yeah imagine pissing away more money on a lower roster player that can be sent to the farm with no cap repercussions which will have zero impact on the team's ability to acquire Eichel or anyone else.

You have a much edgier definition of "pissed more money away" than I do.

You guys should form a support group for all the mental damage you've endured!

Pointing out that there was time left is just a fact. Not sure why it wounded some of you so severely.

I do think Eichel is going to get moved prior to regular season hockey beginning.

I am now back on the fantasy of the Flames acquiring him while keeping Tkachuk. The third team that I think could be a good fit is the Sens. It sounds like they may be able to get Brady Tkachuk to sign an 8x8 and Dorian declared the time to win is now. They are ready to make a move and I could see them having interest in Monahan.

To Flames: Eichel
To Sens: Monahan
To Sabres: Dube, L.Brown, Brannstrom, Coronato, Flames 22 1st, Sens 2nd, Panthers 2nd

Sabres get 7 pieces for Eichel including 3 young guys they can plug into their NHL lineup. They get a recent top 15 pick and 3 future picks. I would hope the flames could protect that pick maybe with a games played condition combined with top 10 protection?

Sens get Monahan who would represent a piece that helps them move forward. Dorian just seems like the guy that would pay this price and declare the team is making the playoffs.

Flames make the move 90% of this fanbase wants and all of a sudden this does become a transformational offseason and a clear 5 year window is opened.

Gaudreau-Eichel-Tkachuk
Mangiapane-Lindholm-Coleman
Lucic-Backlund-Pitlick/Pelletier
Lewis-Richardson-Richie/Pitlick

Hanifin-Tanev
Zadorov-Andersson
Valimaki-Mackey
Kylington

Markstrom
Vlader

Love that top 6 and could be a serviceable bottom 6 committed to Sutter style of play.

This would be a very good line up. Assuming you could sign Tkachuk, Johnny and Mangiapane long term.

Clearly, you’re issuing insufficient trigger warnings.
