I just asked my season ticket rep if there is a plan, for the second time. First time he said, "we're following ahs guidelines and no vaccine requirement". I'll post the response to my second query.

Yes, it’s great to feel that little extra bit safer by having no unvaccinated people around. Sure, wonderful. But restrictions are a means of stopping or limiting a rise in hospitalisations. The more people in hospital, the more stress put on the health care system. A stressed health care system leads to cancelled and delayed surgeries, delayed appointments, reduced access for everyone, etc. Put 1000 vaccinated people in a room, introduce Delta, and you’ve probably got a few breakthrough cases. Put 600 vaccinated people in a room with 400 unvaccinated and do the same thing, and cases are going to be a LOT higher. Sure, it’s great that 600 are vaccinated. But Delta doesn’t really give a #### when there’s 400 unvaccinated in the room ready for infection.
So, yes, being selfish about it, it can seem strange. But your choices are restrictions for everyone, or restrictions for the vaccinated. It’s not to make it safer for YOU, that’s what the vaccine is for. It’s to make it safer for EVERYONE. We’ve just been through a year of this. The only difference is now you’re vaccinated, which means you shouldn’t really have to be restricted… but you’re saying you want the restrictions?
That’s what I don’t get. Restrictions aren’t for fun. They’re to protect the health care system. The vaccinated are being excluded because they’re low risk. And people are seriously advocating being restricted WITH the unvaccinated because it would be “unfair”? Have at it.
Restrictions are coming either way. As a vaccinated person, I’m more than happy to avoid them. You want to sit at home with the unvaccinated? Volunteer to do so.
|
I get all of that and I agree. But per my previous post. You have to put dates on things like this or benchmarks for when it will end. That ends most of the scepticism unless the requirements are unreasonable.
Just doing things because someone else does it leaves questions unanswered and generates threads like this which take away from discussions about Eichel’s neck.

It does seem there is a George W Bush sentiment on here though, you're either with us or against us.
Not everyone who is not getting the vaccine is anti-vax, some are just unsure and want to see how things play out.
I know quite a few people who don't have the vaccine and none are spouting anti-vax nonsense.
Just seems like an awful lot of judgement on here and jumping to conclusions, yes there are some on here that are misguided and others that provide over the top examples but I think we can all look through that and see their point without automatically labeling everyone anti-vax.
There has been enough change in the message that I can see why people have their doubts. Astra was acceptable, now it's not, you can sit down without a mask but you can't walk around, etc..
Just some food for thought and just for the record, I'm not anti-vax, but I am okay with questions being asked and people having doubts.

Again, nobody's forcing unvaccinated people to be vaccinated. It's not a god given right that you can attend hockey games. The Jets have made the decision to only let the vaccinated in. As a "yay, freedom!" person, aren't the unvaxxed being a bit hypocritical in spouting that, but at the same time saying businesses can't operate how they want? (ie. only letting in vaccinated people).

What is the point of what you're saying here?
I don't watch the CBC. But there is absolutely no doubt at all that you can trust what they're saying over anything that spews forth from the anus present on Tucker's face. His network successfully argued that he can't be considered factual in court, so if you believe him you're irredeemably stupid.
There's no flip side. If you watch/believe tucker carlson you're a ####ing idiot.

I believe the Jets and Leafs are requiring proof of vaccination (or a recent negative test for the Leafs) without a government mandate. The Canucks and Habs will likely require proof of vaccination as part of provincial regulations.
I don't believe the Senators, Oilers, or Flames have announced anything yet.
Bruce Garrioch reported on the weekend that he expects the Senators to announce something this week. If that happens, it would leave the Alberta teams as the last holdouts.
It's obvious it's going to happen before the start of the season, so they should just bite the bullet and announce it now. The longer they wait, the more it makes them look like antivax lunatics.

From some of the inside baseball stories i got from a friend of mine who works with the Stampede (was involved in many decisions they made this year), I would not be surprised at all if the Government of Alberta is actively lobbying Oilers and Flames to not implement vaccine requirements of any sort

I hope that isn't the case but private enterprise can make their own decisions. I trust they will make the right and responsible one. Precedent has certainly been set, just follow the lead.

Hot off the press:
August 23, 2021
UPDATE TO CSEC'S COVID-19 POLICY
Thank you for your continued support and your patience as we continue to shape the plan for hosting fans at the Scotiabank Saddledome and continuing to welcome fans to McMahon Stadium. In consulting with health officials and event partners, as well as feedback from our fans, today we are announcing that Calgary Sports and Entertainment (CSEC) will be implementing a COVID-19 vaccination policy that will require all fans (eligible to receive the vaccine), event staff and employees to be fully vaccinated for attendance at live events at the Scotiabank Saddledome and McMahon Stadium. We are targeting September 15, 2021 as the effective policy date.
As we continue to navigate these unprecedented times, we believe this policy to be essential in delivering a safe environment for our fans and staff as well as an important measure to help our communities and businesses to continue reopening safely. We will monitor the situation and communicate required updates to ensure a safe environment for everyone visiting our facilities.
We remain excited to have welcomed fans back to McMahon Stadium through the month of August and are eager to welcome fans to the Scotiabank Saddledome in September.
In the coming weeks we will be providing you details on the implementation of this policy along with FAQ’s for attending events after September 15, 2021 at the Scotiabank Saddledome and McMahon Stadium.

My face is a bum!

Good. I've stayed out of this tire fire of a thread, but I was going to ask for my season tickets to be suspended for the year if they didn't do this. I'm vaccinated, but have a preexisting condition and 2 kids under 12.
