6.125 with no Dube and no backup goalie...the space will be used
you don't honestly think the Flames are going to carry over 4M in un-used cap space all season do you?

Vladar is part of that cap space used already. He’s the backup as per Trelivong I believe.

He’s not on the team as per cap friendly right now. His 750k salary isn’t included in the 6.125 space left.

Or maybe just realize that people have different opinions...look at your posting history and tell me you are not biased towards Sam...I mean honestly guy
He had the worst hit of the entire playoffs got suspended and took multiple dumb penalties but you won't even acknowledge it costing his team
So they are better without him in game 2? If he is such a valuable player how can you actually say his dumb actions didn't cost them? Because they would have lost anyway is a dumb answer. As Jim Lahey would say a #### leopard doesn't change its spots.
15 games doesn't make a career as badly as you want to say I told you so
He puts up 70 next year feel free to come brag...maybe wait though

correct they have 5 and change without Dube
Coleman/Z ate all of Gio's money and plus a little...I would gladly trade Gio for those two
Coleman has 24 points in the last two playoffs playing on the 3RD line not to mention the two cups

I was struck by this part of the comment as well. I imagine he wasn't that happy with BT, although I'm sure it also reflects the juicy contract he just signed.

When you lead your team in penalty minutes (not for fighting) and have a suspension in a playoff series you certainly cost your team to some degree no matter how many excuses you want to make. I suppose you defend Kadri because they weren't going to win anyway?
|
Funny as this is, the penalty thing was pretty overblown by the end. He has a bunch in 18-19 (yes, including for fighting, as he fought more than anyone) but minors wise he was around the same level as Gio, Backlund, and Tkachuk.
I don’t know why you get so emotional about Bennett. A little over the top IMO.

If it works out for Sam Bennett in Florida, I am happy for him. I had high hopes for him here, him being our highest ever draft pick.
Off topic: Speaking of which, he is now playing on a team with a #1 overall draft pick, a couple of #2 overall draft picks, #3 overall, and of course he's a #4 overall - a couple of those were traded for - if you add Spencer Knight to that list (13 overall)... they can put that out on the ice for a shift, pretty impressive.
My point: What's wrong with us, we've had many years (in a row) where we didn't make the playoffs, where we were a bubble team (which is the problem) and a few years where we barely made it in and one year where we were first - and for our highest draft picks to be Sam Bennett at #4; Monahan, Tkachuk, Tkaczuk, Stillman, O'Brien, and Fata at #6; Phaneuf and Krahn at #9 ... I think there is a problem, especially when you look up north of us and they've had FOUR #1 overall picks and a #3, #4, #7, #8, #10 in the last 12 years and our making the playoffs and winning in the playoffs is not much better than theirs I hate to say... in our history as a team in Calgary, we've never had a top 3 pick... I think the draft lottery is broken and I think the fixes they've tried to make only gave Edmonton more #1 picks (not less)... and if we ever finish last in the league, we're not guaranteed our #1 anymore.... I think a far better method is to exempt teams from the #1 pick that had it in the past 5 years and maybe suppress their odds over the next 5 years as well. Teams winning the draft lottery should also be given the option to decline it - who would, but they can then choose not to be exempt from winning a future one, it's their choice - just a thought.

Based on last year's usage, I'd predict something like:
Verhaege-Barkov-Duclair
Huberdeau-Bennett-Reinhart
Luostarinen-Acciari-Hornqvist
Vatrano-Thornton-Tippett
Lomberg
It's a pretty stacked lineup, especially on the right side. If Tippett shows well then maybe they bump him back up to Huberdeau's line that tends to get sheltered minutes:
Verhaege-Barkov-Reinhart
Huberdeau-Bennett-Tippett
Duclair-Acciari-Hornqvist
Luostarinen-Thornton-Vatrano
Lomberg

Except that's not true.
2018-19: Bennett 1.97 penalties per 60. Backlund 1.05. Tkachuk 1.04. Gio 1.02.
2019-20: Bennett 1.66. Backlund 0.62. Tkachuk 1.09. Gio 0.71.
Not to mention how many stupid meaningless O zone penalties he racked up.
Funny as this is, may the legend of Sam Bennett never die.

He had 4 minors and a suspension in 5 games in a playoff series where they were calling nothing....it's the fanboys that get all worked up when someone suggests he hurt his team with a lack of discipline.
And yeah you are naming players that played way more than his so nice stats I didn't bump this thread fyi. There are posters here who think every ex flame is the best player in the league.
Brodie
Bennett
Talbot
Lomberg
Byron
Ryan

I think it's almost a guarantee that Anton Lundell will be the Panther's #3 center next season. He's a stud prospect.

Exactly right. And yet, there are some jokers on this site foolishly ready to proclaim this a settled discussion, and have already started their victory laps...

That is a terrible and disingenuous post. Probably the weakest I have ever seen from you
The first quote indicates that evidence is pointing in a direction. New evidence doesn’t close the case.
The second quote was about ####ty wrong people on the internet in general. Deliberately non specific
Given your handle I am surprised at your struggle with reading and comprehension. Disappointing
You are better than that. Do better.

Our fantasy league gives points for PIMs...Bennett and Hamilton were always surprising how many minutes they spent in the box, compared to comparable players league wide.
