I hope not, this is bad comparison

There are lots of antivirus, I would not put on my computer 😅

Sounds like the NHL is considering withholding pay if unvaccinated players contract COVID or can't travel with the team due to being unvaccinated

https://theathletic.com/2767479/2021...l-loss-of-pay/

Quote:
During a call that lasted more than an hour last week, NHL players were “strongly encouraged” by the NHL Players’ Association to get fully vaccinated and warned about potential loss of pay during the upcoming season if they do not do so. The NHLPA discussed the potential for teams to withhold paychecks should an unvaccinated player contract COVID-19 or if an unvaccinated player can’t accompany his team on road trips where local or federal authorities require vaccinations to enter.
Quote:
“It sort of puts the pressure on everyone,” said one player. “You don’t want to be the reason your team plays shorthanded or is forced to be stuck inside your hotel like last season.”

NHL deputy commissioner Billy Daly confirmed north of 85 percent of NHL players are vaccinated. The WNBA boasts a 99 percent vaccination rate. The NFL is pushing 90 percent, according to a report in the Washington Post last month. As of June 23, MLB teams had reached a vaccination threshold of 85 percent. On July 20, NBPA executive director Michele Roberts said NBA players were 90 percent vaccinated.

That sounds like a perfectly reasonable consequence.

I quite liked the NFL’s list of requirements for unvaccinated players:

85% is better than most of society, but 15% means there are 100+ players who are not. Average 3 per team. With fans and reduced or no bubble, there will be a lot of cases, even if low or no symptoms

No idea what the breakdown actually is, but I would guess that there are more vaccinated on the Canadian teams, simply because crossing the border is so difficult.

Anyone know what the vaccination rate is for the Flames, or for the Canadian teams in general?

Our family decided to ask the Flames for a one year deferral on our season tickets unless they adopt a vaccine policy.

I am hoping we can still get our playoff tickets if things go well for the team (and society).

Curious if you were given any indication of the likelihood of a policy?

Our account rep was unaware of any plan. He read from a statement that they are following all public heath measures (ha).

He suggested we send an email that he could take to his bosses.

It seems like a no brainer for teams to adopt the Winnipeg stance. At this point the majority of the folks buying tickets will be vaccinated and likely support it. Why piss them off and pander to the anti-vaxx crowd? They stand to lose far more from pissing off the vaccinated than alienating the non vaccinated.

Agree. He was very understanding but had no authority to agree to anything.

Deferral requests are being considered on a case by case basis.

Oilers considering it now too...

The Flames first preseason game is 6 weeks away, so if you're an unvaccinated STH, you should probably go get your shot. It's likely just a matter of time and you don't want to be left on the outside because you didn't get your shot in time.

Honestly, you really want to be vaccinated for more than just COVID before entering Rogers Place.

Sabres - fans need to proof of vaccination or a negative test within 72 hours
https://www.nhl.com/sabres/tickets/return-of-fans

Islanders - ~2/3 of arena reserved for vaccinated fans; remaining ~1/3 for unvaccinated, but negative test and must wear mask

Good for them - I hope the Flames follow suit and soon.

The Jets are being sensible. Live fans are preferable to dead ones from the standpoint of a sports franchise.
