Can't read all 55 pages so may have been discussed, but UFC bantamweight champion*, Aljamain Sterling, recently underwent neck disk replacement surgery. His timeline can offer some insight into what Eichel is proposing - and there is much more neck discomfort and stress in the grappling realm relative to hockey.
April 15th - surgery
April 26th - resume cardio
May 6th - light bodyweight exercise and physio
May 10th - light weightlifting
May 17th - resume pad work
June 24th - resume light sparring
August 5th - cleared to resume full sparring (112 days)
August 9th - cleared to participate in wrestling tournament (116 days)
October 30 - Official return to competition (198 days)
Based on that - no formal education or experience - something just under or around 100 days seems likely. If he gets surgery tomorrow that takes him to the third week of November at earliest and causes him to miss about 1/4 of the season plus another 5-10 games getting timing and everything back. Obviously teams are taking that into account.
That is in comparison to Eichel's doctor, who has a vested interest, suggesting 8-12 weeks in an episode of the 31 Thoughts Podcast.

Probably comparable numbers to Briere at that age. So decent.

Or comparable numbers to Pavel Bure, Simon Gagne, Alex Tanguay, etc. You never know.

Gaudreau finishes his 28th year old season this year... under contract to the Flames so far.
520 games 170 goals 494 pts .95 ppg +21 105 PIM
After Briere's 28 year old season
he had 483 games 162 goals 376 pts -5 and 365 PIM .78 ppg he had 37 pts in his 40 playoff games.
After that he played for 8 more seasons
He got a 8 year contract from philly 8 x 6.5 that they bought out after 6 years. And then signed for 2 x 4 with Montreal playing the 2nd year with the Avs.
Overall he played on his last 8 years : 490 games 145 goals 320 pts -19 and 379 PIM .65 ppg 379 PIM. Why he was thought to age well was he had 40 goals and 78 pts in 84 playoff games.
I posted the PIM as he was a different player than Gaudreau
in his last 3 years age 34,35,36 he was:
Philly 6 goals 16 pts in 34 games -13
Montreal 13 goals 35 pts in 69 games +1
Colorado 8 goals 12 pts in 57 games -7
So he wasn't close to being decent at 6.5 , 4 , 4 cap hit with a compliance buyout
Marty St. L played until he was 39 and would be the poster boy for smaller players ( well any player) that played well after 34... but he basically started to play elite at age 28 ... the first time of 6 that he was above a ppg along with a couple of years where he within 3 pts of a ppg season

If Johnny wants a long career he’d better become diligent on fitness. It’s what kept Gio relevant for so long. Iginla as well.

He still hasn't changed anything off ice. If he loses that quickness, the drop-off will be precipitous. That's why for me, in order of preference:
1) Trade
2) Lose as UFA
3) Sign to an 8x8 (or some such)

Bull. He literally was on a cooking show where he talked about how his diet changed and I am sure his fiance has plenty to do with it. During the break before the bubble he was working out, roller blading every day, and chopping wood. The guy isn't living off ham and cheese and skittles anymore.

The narrative that Gaudreau isn't committed to taking care of himself is laughable.

I remember Theo roller blading as part of his fitness regime. It really wasn’t productive. Hopefully he’s consulted someone.

Maybe, but it’s just not great as a workout for them. Frankly, there’s nothing that works like the gym.

I am pretty sure Johnny is in the gym. He said that also in recent interviews that he likes to get into the gym.

I mean other than him in his own words saying his diet is trash and he doesn’t eat good. Sure you can still be in wicked shape while eating poorly but it also isn’t silly to assume eating better would lead to better performance.
If I was an elite athlete and didn’t like cooking and ate like trash I’d definitely have my own chef.

I am pretty sure the rollerblading regime was implemented by the Flames fitness and conditioning staff, no? I suspect that they are on top of this.

1) the comment was quite some time ago
2) it's relative (he is comparing himself against other professional athletes, not average Joe pizza-eaters like you and me (no offense if you are in fact a health freak). And he may simply have meant that he eats garbage once in a while (vs team-mates who do it even less)
3) there are people around him that help him with these things
4) people grow up. Do you think that he isn't aware that he has a very finite career and a lack of focus on diet and training can and will shorten that career?
The guy isn't eating skittles 3 times a day while watching soaps in his pajamas.
