Are you referring to the rally after they won the Cup? Wow do I remember that, with Maher replaying the greatest calls from the playoffs (and Lanny's 500th IIRC).
I believe he did accept that sculpture from Hartman, but it was evident how reluctant he was for the personal attention. IIRC the controversy about the statue then came afterwards when it became clear it was a profit seeking venture for the company that made it.

I'd suggest that while the Flames have their greats this is a chance to do things right in the new building and set the bar high.

But then have something in concourse that celebrates the history of the team and the great players. A wall of fame or something like it. Just my two cents and they obviously won't unretire Vernon.
