Can Seattle still do that? They should.

If Seattle offer sheets him, I think it'll work out better for Vancouver. Seattle doesn't look like a good team, their first will be a high one and in this draft that could be dangerous. Imagine Seattle offer sheets him and the nucks get their first and it wins the lottery.

I personally think the value is fair, but putting myself in the Canucks’ shoes, wouldn’t they have the same problem of re-signing him? Pretty sure Tkachuk wants to play for an American team.

Be easier for CGY to sign Petey in little Stockholm. Half his buddies that he trains with already here.
And I can't think of a better way to cut bait if Tkachuk is as unhappy about being in CGY as rumored.
Let Dim Jim handle the Tkachuk contract issue.
Plus we would be addressing Center ice from a position of strength.

And Petterson wants to play with a winning team and he may not think Calgary is it. Of course, he's an ELC and has no arb rights on the next contract.

Buddies or not... he said he wants to go somewhere with a chance of winning so flames would be out.

Flames are closer than Vancouver is. Anyone want to argue otherwise?

Calgary likely not considered much better than Vancouver for winning.

Maybe, but neither is likely close.

I would say they were exactly the same.

Does closer matter? Neither team is close at this point.

The way I interpret it is Petersson wanting some consistency. He’s probably disappointed with going from a team in the second round to a team that barely has playoff hope.
I think there would absolutely be consistency when we’ve finally obtained a 1A center. I think Petersson can be that. He and Lindholm down the middle would be nice

Petterson would provide incredible centre depth. Lindholm could handle the heavier lifting leaving Petterson as the scoring option. Not sure about the winger situation though. Would need to move Monahan for a RW.

Seattle has excellent goaltending and good defence.
Their forwards are looking better and they still have lots of cap left. And you would be adding Pettersson to the mix.
That team looks quite bit better than lots of others, including a Pettersson less Canuck team.
