Ugh, goodness. And twice no less. Anyway the 2nd prophecy is tomorrow, but I want to see if Eichel still fits after Brad goes out and gets another pricey defenseman.

That was a legit thing with Feaster and Weisbrod. I don't think Treliving is trying to be smartest man in the room. I see a once aggressive GM turn conservative after being burned by mistakes to the point where he's having a tough time getting anything done. After saying to the media at the conclusion of another disappointing season that changes need to be made he's basically bringing back the same team minus it's captain (due to the expansion draft). It's clear he wanted to make moves but just couldn't pull the trigger on anything. I understand not wanting to make a bad move for the sake of it, but bringing back the same group that never rises to the occasion is not likely going to lead to better results. I think Darryl will be able to milk a few more wins out of the team but this is not a team that is a legitimate threat to do anything in the playoffs if they are fortunate enough to squeak in.

I think he is basically putting all his chips on acquiring Eichel at this point and if that fails either we see some potentially desperate deals based around Tkachuk and Gaudreau or he rolls the same team and hopes he doesn't get canned.

If that was the case the deal would be done already. Time is ticking on the offseason and Eichel needs to be traded before he can have the surgery and the longer that takes, the longer until he's available to the team. Sabres don't care if he's available because they are tanking but the Flames are actually trying to win next season. I do think he's kicking the tires but I think he realizes he may have to ride out the season with the team he has. It's all in the hands of the Sabres as if they don't lower their demands there's not going to be a trade and they can afford to hold on to him.

Because Treliving would have used his GM mind-control ray on Kevyn Adams.

It's clear which end the holdup is at. Many GMs are trying to arrange an Eichel trade, but the team that has Eichel hasn't made a deal with anyone.

Thanks for repeating what I already said Jay Obvious.

All made up timelines as it is all media conjectures but I don't think they are past the point of no return yet on Eichel. I am guessing if he doesn't get traded by the end of August it isn't happening though.

I beg your pardon, I thought it was your usual schtick of blaming Treliving for everything.

Isn't Kevyn Adams away from the office this week? Doesn't sound good for the 2nd prophecy.

Gonna have to track him down like:

I don't agree with all of that (though I agree with much of it) but I appreciate the thoughtful response including a reasonable articulation of gaps with the GM.
That's the type of discussion I respect, more than throwaway one liners.

I dunno, maybe I need to watch more closely.....

Now where have we seen this on a young C, who appears to have gone onto better things given the right amount of encouragement

Why would anyone ever waste their time reading Eklund nonsense?

I don’t ever take anything Eklund says seriously but at the very least it can generate some interesting discussion.

Why not? Maybe you take things way too serious?

Safely between 0 and 100%. I’d say this is very accurate and defy anyone to prove otherwise.

Some people actually prefer somewhat intelligent and reason based conversation on this forum. That's what made it what it is today starting a couple decades ago.

Eklund is someone/something that literally sits around making up fantasy.

Sorry if that is "too serious" for you.

Different standards I suppose.
