I'm hoping that white ribbon wall is just a giant led screen.

'Iconic' isn't limited to NHL arenas only, but to answer your question, I believe T-Mobile Arena, Barclays Center (when the Isles played there), the new Climate Pledge Arena and the Saddledome have distinct (iconic) structures. They definitely differ from the traditional arena mould. That's just my opinion though.

Layout-wise, it looks to have a lot more in common with Detroit than Edmonton. The only thing they seemed to borrow from Rogers Place is the club space on the suite level behind the visitor's goal.
The one thing that's missing from all these renders is the interior elevations. I'm not entirely sure how everything will fit together with just the top-down view.

They apparently adopted a version of the inverted bowl so I'm guessing it's going to be higher than normal.

Weird. MSG is probably one of the most dated, bland-appearing venues in the entire League. I think the only reason it might be considered "iconic" is because it is so damn old.
Iconicism is not everything it is cracked up to be. The Edmonton toilet-bowl probably fits the description, and I think it is a horrible eye-sore that one cannot un-see

So if Lanny is convinced to "un-retire" his #9, then Jack Eichel parks in an accessible parking space? Checks out.

It's a metal wall. I could see them having fun with it though with dynamic lighting to make it pop out more at night.

Didnt it just get a $1B renovation?

Nenshi said the inverted bowl was not feasible on this site.

Yes, but the exterior looks basically the same as it did in 1970. It's drab.

It's not. And a giant screen would be kind of wasted on that side of the building anyways.

Can you imagine the cost to repair a giant screen like that after one significant hailstorm.

Hahaha in typical Flames fashion it comes out as average and mediocre as possible. Not the worst thing in the world, certainly no where near the best. The Flames, Dialog, and HOK have just laid a massive turd of a building. Disappointing as hell.
Also, they just had to shove another parkade in there. Like WTF? There isn’t enough parking around the entire Stampede grounds? That could have been a practise rink. This entertainment “district” already looks like a failure on paper. I much preferred the previous concept which contained more glass and the wooden roof.

I didn't say it was the inverted bowl. I said they adopted a version of it that likely means works on the site. Forgive me for posting .

I respect that, I just feel that in the last 5 years we have been gifted two iconic world class pieces of architecture in the new library and Studio bell. Calgary is also getting the new distinct looking convention center expansion.
I think based on what we are seeing in the renderings we are getting a piece designed for function more than for beauty. I won't make my decision completely until after I see it in person, both inside and outside. But it already is better looking then the monstrosity up north

That was merely a placeholder for marketing purpose submitted by Rosetti I believe. It was never actually considered a concept of anything.

Me too. I just recall that it was mentioned recently. It wasn't the rosetti bowl but they played off of it.
