Not sure if LA or Anaheim have had reported offers out there yet but to say the Flames basically have no skin in the game because of what we can offer is way off base. The Flames have more than a fair offer to present and I hope they do so.

Also the argument that ANA and LA’s 1st next year will be higher than the flames is actually something that works into the Flames favour; LA and ANA still need to be committed to their current rebuilds and now is not the time to be spending young assets on a piece to push them over the top which is precisely where the Flames are at right now. Honestly from my perspective bias aside my opinion is the Flames are a perfect suitor and can offer a competitive package for Eichel more so than any other team rumoured to be in on the sweepstakes.
If I was a nearly guaranteed non-playoff team like the Ducks I would much rather take my chance at drafting Wright, Miroshnichenko, or Magnitogorsk for free than give that pick up and more for a player that has a few question marks. Eichel won't make the Ducks a playoff team. Kings as well as they already have some bad contracts on their roster and may be better served continuing their rebuild.

Funny you should say this because my suspicion is this is exactly what is keeping Brad from following through. Buffalo wants EatBread to be part of the deal and Calgary are trying to convince them otherwise.

I like Mangiapane but if the Sabres want him you have to include him. Flames already have similar players in Pelletier and Coronato that may even have more upside in their system and can afford to let go of him.

We’d probably lose Mangiapane as well. Which would suck.

Other huge wildcard is Eichel’s neck.
Its true, and I’m no Monahan hater, but clearly Eichel would be the upgrade on him, and at least one big salary has to move. They probably want Tkachuk or Gaudreau but I think keeping the Americans together will be part of the potential success of this team. But you have to give to get and I think if the only roster players it costs us is those guys, you gotta do it. Monahan has his own injury question marks and the recent news on Eichels surgery seems to be more favourable than considered when it was more under wraps.

Definitely would be cool tho. And I think Eichel would love to come here and shove some success down McDavids throat. Just seems like that type of competitive jerk with a chip on his shoulder (or neck *ducks*). We need more of that.

And his 2.whatever million cap hit will be viewed as a far more acceptable piece for the Sabers.

Knocking a 6th round pick diamond in the rough into a top line RHS center? No Brainer. Let me drive you to the airport Mr.mangiapane.

The Pegula's are obviously fans. Even after selling the team they are going to care a lot about what happens to the Sabres, especially on the ice.

It seems only right that Calgary attains the runner up franchise center to McDavid to stick it to him and balance the scales in AB.

One might even argue that it is destined.

Would be pretty glorious to coincide with Edmonton entering its make-believe push to compete.

I get that it’s a negotiation, and I get that Brad has to hold something back to come with a closing offer that Buffalo can’t refuse.

So long as it’s understood that failing to acquire the player because you don’t want to part ways with Andrew Mangiapane is not an acceptable result.

Not to mention his $5mil salary starting next year.

If monahan mangiapane a first and Pelletier would be a great deal for Buffalo IMO. They could use mangiapane and we would miss him but losing him makes the following years cap way easier to manage

It’s too bad a guy like Ritchie wasn’t still available though to replace hin

Christ.
I just watched again. This guy would be such a great addition to the Flames.

I agree but if it needs to be mangiapane there is a huge positive that dube probably could be signed for $1.5 for 2 years where mangiapane makes 2.4 mil and could get $5 mil. You add Eichel and resign Johnny and Tkachuk then losing mangiapane over dube could help even though I like mangiapane better

I would if that’s what Buffalo wants. Pelletier and zary are on elc deals. Makes room for Phillips too who also won’t make as much

IMO both are replaceable

Who would you rather give up between Pelletier/Zary?

I have a good feeling about Pelletier, I'd choose Zary.

He's a legit superstar, and a guy who's going to score 1000+ points

I hope he does it as a Flame

I prefer to give up Pelletier. I just feel zary has higher potential

But it’s so close I could care less who

Dream scenario that’s reasonable value for me is

Monahan mangiapane dube and Pelletier

But I assume they would want more. But I think that’s 4 first caliber and it’s bodies now. It makes less sense for them when it comes to team control so I assume the offer wouldn’t be accepted

He and Gaudreau would just make pure magic on the ice.

I hope at the olympics we get to see a Gaudreau - Eichel - Kane line.

Not to mention that Mangiapane will need a big pay raise next Summer.

Bringing in Eichel means you need to offload one big salary this season and also manage the cap to have enough space for Gaudreau and Tkachuk extensions next season.

Moving both Monahan and Mangiapane might be a necessity if acquiring Eichel if the goal is run with a big 4 of Eichel, Tkachuk, Gaudreau, Lindholm.
