Kicks in at 10AM.

...or maybe at midnight EST last night? I'm not quite sure.

It’s no secret his biggest issue has been what he does on UFA and apparently he still hasn’t figured it out in the 7 different attempts he’s had. Let see how he does this time around I guess but I’m not holding my breath.
The conversation is regarding UFA bottom rotation players. Someone made the comment that the cap space gained through Gio’s departure was going to be waisted on the lines of Gudbransdon and Thompson and Lewis.

I don’t consider Brouwer or Neal to fit the bottom rotation. Or at least that was not the intent. Either was Frolik, if anything, he was a very good UFA signing. Bolig was a trade and Raymond was a vet on a rebuilding team that prevented them from doing nothing they didn’t want to do otherwise. In other words, fairly insignificant, but people like to whine anyway, so here we are talking about UFA signings from 7 years ago.

Signing a vet to low cost/low term contracts is something most teams do. They don’t always work out, like any nhl transaction, but the intention is not misguided. I know this is talking in hypothetical’s, but had the Flames signing Patrick Maroon two or three years ago, the avalanche of whining and complaining would have been something to behold.

Ouch. The odds of him playing more than 60 games in a season are not good

Only one of those that's a bummer is McCabe, and even then, meh.

My guesses for CGY:

Edler
Gudbranson
Ullmark
Sceviour or Lewis

They chase after Coleman and miss
They chase after Ritchie and miss

Good for you that you don’t consider Brouwer or Neal bottom rotation players that’s what they were for the Flames and at top 6 dollars. Fact of the matter is that when Treliving paid them those dollars the risk was higher that they would become mid to bottom 6 players especially in the latter years of their contracts. Rather than ponying up the extra mill or two it would cost to get the sure thing. Bad contracts to aging vets who used to put up top 6 numbers is Trelivings trademark this time of year and it sounds like we are players to do it again with Coleman. You can try to defend Treliving and his UFA performance over the years but this is a results based league and he has next to no results to show for near 8 years of directing the ship so sue me for being disappointed I guess when I hear that we are going after the same blueprint that has netted us those no results in those 8 years.

Almost all gone. I’m not sure those counselling wait and see are familiar with the list of UFAs. Even the second-tier guys like McCabe are getting snapped up.

Stay on topic. The discussion was about signing the likes of Gudbranson, Lewis, or Thompson. I don’t see the link to Brouwer or Neal whatsoever.

Maybe we can get PK Subban AND an additional asset from New Jersey for nothing?

Blues want Saad, but also want to move Tarasenko first
Jamie Rivers of 101 ESPN reported (on the air) the Blues could retain up to $2.5M for Tarasenko

With Gio gone, would Hamilton entertain coming back or is that bridge burnt? I know he’d be expensive, but he is a stud and has only improved since he left.

I don't think there is a chance at all he would entertain joining the Flames. He basically was ridiculed out of this city.

Given what has been said about Tarasenko and him being 100% for training camp I would love if we can grab him on the cheap. If he is healthy he would be a lock for 35-40 goals with Johnny feeding him.
