geez... I'm super slow to the game. Oh well, you win some and lose some. If you'll excuse me I'm going to go break the news that Giordano has been picked by Seattle.

Including the trade deadline months ago, Tre could have made a deal at any point to get something in return for Gio (even if it required some salary retention). Many teams would have treated him as a pure rental only to expose him the same way the Flames did.
This GM is just a complete lame duck at this point and the Flames are in big trouble with pizza boy at the helm for another year.

Protected Gio and left Andersson or Tanev for the Kraken.
Have to see if what the Kraken get back is worth more than Andersson.

Only if your GM is that dumb to acquire an asset that needs protecting.
Not many significant deadline deals involve returns other than picks or prospects and they wouldn't need protecting now.

I guess he probably could have gotten "something" for him. But you need to make sure the "something" is worth losing another player in addition.
Would you rather lose Gio for nothing, or lose Gio and Kylington for a 3rd?

No one wants Kylington

Just love how moves are judged based on opinions of what may have been available.
Bubble teams don't move their captain at the deadline.
No teams do well moving big assets in a cap flat world.
The expansion spot became an issue because of another great free agent signing.
Treliving has made mistakes. I keep saying over and over again that there is plenty to attack if you don't like that guy instead of creating your own fantasy market with options and then criticizing someone for not exercising an option in this dream scape.

I am just thankful BT hasn't traded away any draft picks yet. That was my biggest concern.

I am out of thanks as I thanked so many who commented a la "holy crap people, no, we could not have traded Gio to the Rangers", and want to thank all the Rick the Temp comments, as that's truly funny stuff, and EXACTLY what popped into my head when I saw his name...
That is all.

Do you honestly believe that Edmonton was not the very last team on Giordano's "can-be=traded-to" list? More than likely, he would have added AHL teams ahead of the Oilers in that scenario. People who believe that there was any conceivable chance that Giordano would have—or could have—been moved to the Oilers are just not thinking this through. That, or they are so blinded by rage at the franchise and management that they are incapable of seeing every side of this situation.

Ridiculous take in my opinion. I would think there is better chance Kylington becomes something instead of a 3rd rounder. Any team taking Gio would need to be prepared to keep Gio beyond this year (no guarantees the team Gio was traded to results in him being selected by Seattle)

If the org had any hope for Kylington they would have found a way to get him into more than 8 games all year
Every team passed on him when he was making near league minimum on a two way contract
It’s over

I don't believe that. I think when he's given a chance he'll be excellent.

This is the History of Flames fans!
They/we don’t realize every team has a Kylington of their own !
He passed through waivers . No one assigns any value to him as they all have an exact same borderline NHL D they are familiar with and will just stick with that player
Sure - league wide one or two of these guys will surprise every year - but teams will just stick with the guy they are comfortable with and know.

Has there been anyone else reporting this trade? Wondering how legitimate it is. The Hockey Guy is saying on his YouTube channel that giordano is going to be named Seattle’s captain.

Isn't The Hockey Guy just a fan who records videos in his basement? I seriously doubt that he knows better than anyone else about what is going to happen.
