Sorry yes basketball. That’s the only 2k I recognize. It’s just that and WWE now innit?
PGA 2k21 is a blast
I agree though, in nba the microtransactions ruin the game. I love the idea of your player having a salary in career mode and using that to purchase upgrades, but basing it on real life dollars as well and making it way to much of a grind to get without buying is just disgusting
Which is a shame because underneath all that BS, there is a good game. But it's not worth it.
And I agree, screw playing any sports games online. Just so bad, nobody wants to play the game like the sport is actually played, they just find whatever exploit that's available in that years game. NHL is so bad for this.
And don't even get me started on all these god damn card game ultimate team modes. Those have ruined sports games because dummies pour money into it so now it's the devs focus on.
I've been watching Emilie since FS2020 came out, mainly to figure out how to use some of the more advanced functionality of the flight systems. Her channel is pretty great for that.

This is mainly due to a few big WoW streamers being upset with Blizzard and the state of WoW, shifting over to play FFXIV.
A couple of us were talking about FFXIV some pages back in this thread about the NieR crossover raid, but yeah it's gotten pretty crazy in the game lately.
I've been playing FFXIV since Heavensward came out, and two weeks ago was the first time I couldn't teleport to a city due to congestion. I logged into the game fine, but a city was so busy that I couldn't go into that zone. Pretty wild. I've also been running into full groups of new players for the first time. It's been quite an experience in roulettes and at times it's been really fun shepherding these new players through dungeons or trials.
I've been hyping the game up for years to my friends and it's great to see it gaining a critical mass of hype after how good Shadowbringers was.

That's certainly a big part of it, but I should also note that the game has been seeing increasing player numbers ever since the launch of Shadowbringers. Word of mouth about the expansion was really good, and then when they expanded the free trial (unlimited play time and includes the Heavensward expansion!) it really picked up in a hurry. It's just more pronounced lately with the WoW players coming en masse. At the tail end of Stormblood I could log in at almost any time without a queue. I could only avoid queues throughout Shadowbringers if I logged in during the early morning hours. Right now there's always a queue.

They have actually stopped selling digital versions of the game... As there are already too many people trying to log on to the servers. Here's an idea, continue selling the games and invest in bigger better servers lol

That happened on one night (I haven't seen any discussion about it happening again) and only during a peak hour. It's crazy that it even happened, though.
They announced at the 2021 FanFest that they're building a Eurasia data center that was supposed to be ready for Endwalker but it's delayed due to Covid. Coincidentally, expanding housing areas (not counting Ishgard coming soon) during Shadowbringers was delayed due to Covid, so not much you can do there. They also announced more data center investments at the last Live Letter, so it sounds like they're trying.

It's made roulettes pretty terrible though. I don't mind sprouts, but seems like a good chunk of them can't handle any advice even when they're doing inanely stupid stuff. Then you have the boosters that jump into level 70+ content without a clue. Duty finder always gets pretty bad in the x.5+ patches, but it's a whole other level right now.
For anyone that hasn't dived in and here about the "great community", think of the complete opposite of Wow. Instead of toxic elitists, it's a severe case of toxic casuals. At least 25% of the people you will come across do the absolute bare minimum (good chunk of people watch Netflix while playing -- if you need to watch Netflix while playing, you're obviously not enjoying the game so why play?). Any attempt at advice to get them to do more than pressing a single button every 5 second will get you called toxic and/or kicked a lot of the time even if you're carrying their lazy butts through the content. Sad thing is, most of the time, it's long time players that do this so they really have no excuse.
I've been forced to take more advantage of my alts lately. You get a 30 minute penalty for dropping an instance, but instead of fighting or getting reported, I just drop now when I get these players. Often times, their only "defense" is "Chill. It's just casual content". Yep it is, and you're doing damage that was pitiful two expansions ago.

Don't get me wrong. It's generally a fun game and has a great story, but the player base will leave you just speechless at how terrible they are
Konami has officially renamed the Pro Evolution Soccer series eFootball, and it will become a digital-only, free-to-play game coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC this Autumn - with iOS and Android versions to follow (Konami refused to comment on any potential Nintendo Switch version). By this winter, all versions of the game will feature cross-play, although mobile players will need to use controllers to play against console and PC players.
Speaking to IGN, series producer Seitaro Kimura explained that eFootball is aiming to take a 'platform' approach with regular updates – there will no longer be annual paid releases of eFootball, but the platform will get free, yearly updates for new seasons.
eFootball will launch with exhibition matches and seemingly a selection of 9 clubs to play with (see the roadmap below for the full list). It will subsequently sell other modes as optional DLC, seemingly allowing players to pay for what they want out of their game. No mention has yet been made of MyClub, PES' equivalent to FIFA Ultimate Team, or Master League, the series' long-running career mode – although it seems likely that the former will be represented by an unnamed 'Team Building Mode' coming after release.

I like the idea and am intrigued to see how it pans out.
I bet that most of these companies have started to realize that if they make a sports game FTP, and include a battle pass/ultimate team mode, they'll make more money than locking that content behind a $70 game.
It's insane the amount of money that people will spend on these modes.

I've long stopped bothering with sports games. It seems like a nightmare of wading through the worst of the industry when it comes to thieving pickpockets, gotcha obstacles and pay to win that resets every year.
Tabletop simulator works amazingly. There are YouTube videos to explain how to get games on the table and what the features are.
