My pet peeve is the improper use of the apostrophe. I'll let Bob the Angry Flower explain it:

Well, maybe they could. How many people have really reached their absolute bottom threshold of 'care'?

Just a piece of advice--correcting the gf's family isn't a good way to make friends and influence people.

Lol, I haven't corrected the family, I realize that isn't a good idea. It was just getting to a point where I couldn't bear it when listening to her vent about the 'ignorant' people she deals with every day.
I just smile when her mom makes a point of saying, "That's just ignorant right there!".

Perhaps when they say ignorant; it is implied that they mean: ignorant (of the rules that we obey in a polite society.)

I think it has to do with a person's ignorance being what makes them rude. If I am ignorant about a particular subject and I bring it up with someone it affects, I would then also be considered rude.
I find it rude to point out someone's ignorance after they've admitted to it...

I misuse apostrophe's all the time. There are times that even when I think about it, I don't know if it is the correct usage. I should probably brush up.

Like the sig says..."could of", "would of", "should of" drives me mad. Particularly since it's not just regular posts it appears in. I see it more and more often in publications that, in theory, have an editor. The game stories on this site are bad for it too. They're generally quite well written, but at least one of those wonderful authors doesn't have a grasp of the meaning of the word "of"

I'm glad there are other grammar lovers out there besides me. I take decent amounts of flak from people (both in life and online) for correcting grammar.

My pet peeve for spelling and grammar? When people say or spell "perscription." It just drives me mental.
