Its really not his or his agents concern how teams figure out how to work the cap though.
Pen to paper on his terms are all he has control over.

Or Tampa for that matter. I mean, do they even watch hockey?

There's only 30 players making $8M+ though, and only 31 forwards (if you include last years guys who are now UFAs like Hall). TBF some of them at $8M or more are inferior to GL: Couture, Duchene, Hall, Skinner. And penlty are post apex: Malkin, eg.

Tavares is still currently injured (was not cleared to play) and does not really need to play until the 2022 playoffs. And its not one of these Shea Weber decide to be injured situations. Tavares actually was carried of to a hospital so he far exceeds any injury protocol the league might be thinking about.
That frees up 11M of cap and makes pretty awesome playoff line of Tavares, Landeskog, Nylander with Matthews and Marner on the 2nd line

So go all in for one year hoping that Tavares misses the entire 82 game season and then firesale Marner?

Tavares was skating within a week. He had a concussion. But no structural injuries. he was planning on returning if the Leafs went forward.

Yeah, but you just can't be too careful with those concussions. Need to make sure there's no lingering issues... just to be safe, better hold him out til April. We have doctors who are willin- er, that is, their opinion is that it's a good precautionary decision. Sound medical advice.
(obviously this isn't going to happen but it would be extremely funny so I'm in favour of it)

There would not be many situations where Landeskog is the 3rd best player on his line like he is with the Avs.... as well play on a line where the smallest and least physical guy is Mackinnon.
In Rantanen's rookie year 2015-16 Landeskog already established had a 33 pt season.
Landeskog is a great player, in a great situation with the Avs. It would be interesting and risky to see if his value travels well to another team.

There would be no hope involved, there would be clear cut not ready to play even 1 regular season game by a bunch of Doctors.
No need to firesale anyone. Marner or Matthews take the next regular season the on LTIR

One Perry knee to the head away from being out of the league for good.
and/or 82 regular season games to get over the PTSD. Fitting he should focus on getting back to where it started, the 1st playoff game of the season.

Only one of you is joking I think.
Seriously, I would be worried about Tavares' head going forward - he could have recurring issues.
But since he himself said he'd be ready for the following series, it's not a serious argument.

Is montreal going to take a step back with the Weber news? Can we just nab Anderson and skip UFA’s altogether?

What is a realistic trade offer for Anderson?
It’s not Monny.
Montreal paid big for Anderson, in players and money. They have no intention to trade him, so the cost would be very high.

I certainly don’t consider Domi and a 3rd “Big”…
And yeah, they’d be looking at Monahan.

Yeah, a risk that isn't worth a hit of 9-10M.
7-8, possibly.
With those demands he probably resigns with the avs long term at the reduced cap hit, since no one is offering anywhere near what he wants, especially not the teams he is looking at.
