People loved wasted Ovechkin and he does have a point...
Montreal fans were a little ridiculous after winning one of 4 and still being in a near impossible situation.
Vezina was a toss up but the winner basically blew the playoffs for his team (although voting is before the playoffs anyway)

Those markets are non traditional because they have better #### going on than a bunch of lifeless hockey players. Baseball is fun again. Let's make hockey fun again.

Letting Montreal fans ruffle your feathers even after winning looks bad for sure, but its also wholesomely entertaining for us.
I agree with him that their conference win was treated like a cup win for sure. They really blew their load to soon.
Also a little amusing that Perry came up short in back to back years.

His feathers don't look all that ruffled...seems like a guy who will sleep very well in about 72 hours

Kucherov won the playoff scoring race by 9 points...double the top Hab. He had a pretty strong MVP case himself

It's partially Ottawa's fault. They really let Tampa off the hook by trading for two of their most overpaid players and sending them two LTIR players in return
Also, the Blackhawks were gaming the LTIR as hard as anybody. Remember Hossa's equipment allergy?

Just put them on LTIR. You pick when you want them to be healthy.
Obviously need the right players that are willing to take long periods of time off… but if you are offering them uncompromised salaries and a huge opportunity to win the cup, there might be lots of guys willing to do it. Especially since you could always end up activating them early as injuries happen to the active roster. You could decide that you want two of your superstars rested for the playoffs so you put them on LTIR for the last few months of the season. Then you could activate 2-3 of your other star players from LTIR to get them playing some regular season games before playoffs.
Anyone complains and you just cite Tampa as the example. How can Betman stop you and not them?

Being professionally successful and being an a-hole who sleeps well? What does that have to do with anything?

There are very few teams that could lose a player as good as Kucherov and still make the playoffs

Appears he’s currently working on a hangover strong enough to put him on LTIR for next season.

I’ve heard this argument before. But under this new cap-circumvention model you could have other top level talent to fill in for him while he’s gone. Take the leafs for example… a team that makes the playoffs pretty consistently these days but is also in cap trouble every year. Say they go get eichel without having to give up any roster players (just an unrealistic hypothetical of course that would never happen). Someone could say “very few teams could make the playoffs while sitting eichel.” Well the leafs could and then just activate eichel come playoffs. Now they have matthews, Tavares, marner, nylander, and eichel for the playoffs.
Go a step further and add a couple injured players at the trade deadline that will be healthy “just in time for playoffs.”
So in that sense, there are lots of teams that could sit a player like kucherov and make the playoffs. If you circumvent the cap, any of the teams that made the playoffs this year could do it.

This is freaking Montreal!
Has he not seen his literally every Canadian city that made the finals in the last 17 years cheered for every win along the way?
If he thinks that’s how Montreal would celebrate winning the cup…
It’s Montreal, it’s the Stanley cup, it literally would be one of the biggest parties the world has ever seen - and 100% certain if you measure on a per capita basis.
There’s a reason why Montreal winning one game brings a celebration that looks that big. There literally more die hard Hans fans in every neighborhood than there is in the entire city of Tampa.
