You won’t get that, too much cheap and good stuff.

The Flames will need to take cap back, likely Tarasenko and another player.

Tarasenko+Thomas/Kyrou sure feels like Voracek+Frost/Patrick discussed for Gaudreau last year. Just a bad deal and luckily the Flames will have more than one team to deal with when it comes to a Tkachuk trade

Then the Blues are not getting Tkachuk, that simple.

Maybe.

But you can’t trade an expensive player two years from UFA without taking cap back.

You could trade him to Ottawa without taking much cap back.

It's just convincing the sens to make a deal and try to get some of their young assets back. They would make great trade partners for Tkachuk, do they have a lot of players they need to protect or are most of them too young?

If both Gaudreau and Tkachuk want out, I really don’t see a way that we aren’t in for a rebuild. I can’t see any way we don’t lose the best player in either part of those deals.

Sure you can. The Blues can make deals with other teams to offload salary.

Where is this Gaudreau wants out bs coming from? The guy literally just said a month ago he wants to stay.

I actually think a team only needs one Tkachuk in their top 6. They are basically the same player and both are slow.

If the Flames are trading Tkachuk to the Blues, they’d better offer Thomas and Kyrou. Tkachuk is the most valuable piece of the three by quite a bit.

Two years ago, maybe. How many disgruntled 2nd line wingers are coming up on a $9 million pay day?

I don't disagree with the premise, but MT's trade value is almost certainly higher to a team that thinks can sign him.

Thomas/Kyrou are more proven than Frost/Patrick (which isn't to say there aren't still question marks with all of them).

Healthy Tarasenko is better than Voracek based on being a sniper and contract terms...of course Tkachuk holds more trade value than Johnny right now (though maybe not far off Johnny 1 year ago?)

There's a difference between wants out and wants Calgary. Obviously we have no idea what his motivations are either way.

In no world is Tkachuk a second line winger. This board sometimes

I disagree. Dom L and Craig Custance wrote an article entitled “Top 100 NHL Players” in The Athletic on January 11th, 2021. This ranking was based heavily on a metric called Game Score Value Added. Anyways, Thomas and Kyrou were not listed. Matthew Tkachuk was 29th.

Boy, the Flames sure aren't doing so hot for a team with so many amazing, valuable players who love being here.
