It’s really that simple. Late hit, vulnerable player, intent to injure
It's not a late hit. He hits the guy almost immediately after the puck leaves his stick. EDIT: Just watched it again - he might actually still be touching the puck when contact is first made. If not it's less than six inches off his stick blade.
"Vulnerable player" doesn't mean anything - that's not a penalty. Intent to injure is, but I have no idea how you can conclude that.

k im just not going to respond to your #### anymore because i have better things to do like #### my model girlfriend rather then try to convince people like you of commonly held hockey knowledge.

No Corsi, Schiefle only wanted to kill him. You are wrong.

Most important thing is Evans' health
Second is an appropriate punishment for a terrible hit
Wayyy after that, and I hate that it always comes back to this for me, but that hit was literally the exact Tkachuk on Kassian hit, but sped up about 10x and a possibly sever injury added on. Will the media vilify Scheiflie, say he has to fight whoever asks him, and make him out to be a dirt bag, predatory player?
Im thinking Weber is fighting him whether he’s willing or not. And frankly you pull a stunt like that you better expect a reaction.
The in-game purpose was that if Evans is a half second slower rounding the net - which Scheifele absolutely cannot tell when he commits to the hit - the puck goes off his stick into the slot, gets picked up by a Jet, and they have a six on four rush the other way with a chance to tie the game.
It's possible he just wanted to hurt the guy, but that play absolutely does have an in-game purpose. Plenty of times a guy tries to wrap it around but can't quite get it far enough out to bring it back into the net.
All BS. If you’re trying to prevent that goal a hit is not your play and Scheifele isn’t a dumb player. You throw your body into the crease, stick first.
Hitting does nothing to prevent a goal if Evans is slower. In fact, going for a hit makes it less likely you prevent a goal, because he had to travel farther.
Puck was in the net, he hit him, and followed through hard. Dirty.

It is really obvious. The guy came around the net, tucked the puck in. Play should be over. You don’t skate through the guy full speed. Principal point of contact is the head. Too aggressive. Intent to injure
I don’t agree with you. You are wrong.
I am pretty sure the league won’t agree with you either

I mean he stops skating above the hash marks... I'm not even sure that's charging.

No, you are wrong. The play isn't over. The puck isn't even in the net yet when the hit is made. It's nowhere close when he commits to the hit. And he didn't "skate through the guy full speed" - he stopped skating well before contact was made.
It's like you didn't even watch the thing. You're describing an entirely different play from what actually happened.

Sounds like your trying to minimize it. Are you a Jets fan, not that it matters but it might explain why your turning it into n innocent harmless play? He definitely hit a defenseless player at full speed, that much is clear.

There was just zero attempt to stop the puck going in.

This is not new news about Scheifele. The dude has always been an under the radar POS. That's why the second the Jets finished off the Coil it was back to enemy mode. #### those guys...Also it would be hilarious to have a 24 win borderline awful hockey club make it to the conference finals.
