I dunno, maybe they're on to something here. I don't think anyone should be allowed to wear an oilers jersey in the Dome. Or anywhere else. Ever.

That isn't normal.

So be it, let any fan attend any game, so long as they aren't disruptive. What the hell is their problem?
Yes sorry Tampa, Florida.

This all reminds of what happened to my friend Elaine.

Well she called in sick to work and then her and my other friend George they went to a Yankees game you see, then she was asked to take her Orioles hat off (as she's originally from Baltimore). Anywho, she was sitting in the owners seats and she argued with security because she didn't want to take the hat off and ended up getting kicked out.

Then, would you believe it, her boss ended up asking her to a Yankees game and told her to wear the hat and sit in THE VERY SAME SEATS she just got kicked out of the game before. All this while she had called in sick to work the first time.... yeah, she got in trouble.

The entire policy and fact they even care about this is so mind-numbingly pathetic and stupid it’s tough to know where to start.

To care so much about what shirts people wear? Wow.

I don't even understand the rationale.
Is it "It looks bad on TV if it appears the entire crowd isn't on our side"?

Does anyone watch at home and go, "I see a green shirt amongst a bunch of blue and white, this sport is a joke"?

I agree with you. That said there isn't a loser checker in security. In soccer you get that mob feel. It gets you feel invincible, and it gets quite scary when a couple of mobs clash with each other. Those things are not rational, and people can be quite stupid, and make even stupider decisions when drinking. Some people have a hard time losing, others react badly to friendly ribbing. The bottom line is that those incidents are better avoided.

Serious business. I must cheer for our local club's clothing line!

Well I can see the Lightning's point of view. They have very crappy and not many fans.

Remember the promo a few years back for them? Buy 2 cases of Pepsi and get season tickets for like $70!

Well, this is not a public event, and Tampa (or any other team) do have the right to do whatever it is that they want to do.

On the flip side, people in this situation are 100% free to express their displeasure at these rules. They are rather absurd.

I mean, I can't stand some Canucks, Oilers and (especially it seems) Leafs fans, and I do often wish that they were somehow not allowed into the arena, but I am also glad that the organization I support isn't so ######y.

The C of Red is fricken glorious in the playoffs, which makes every year that they aren't in it even worse. Nobody is forced to wear red AFAIK. If you want to wear the opposing team colours, that's fine. The fact that it happens makes on its' own makes it a glorious thing. Teams that try and force everyone to conform are stupid and ######y, and a complete embarrassment to themselves and what sports should even be about.

F U Tampa, you bunch of dirty, cheatin', never a cup without an asterisk organization!

It's bad enough seeing different jerseys at game that doesn't even involve the 2 teams playing but this is just ridiculous.

I love it when idiotic soccer fans are brought up as reasoning for NA sports. Their fans are so unruly and dangerous, we should adopt similar policies? Because literally brawling and possibly killing opposing fans should be the standard we all use? What?

Don't get me wrong, there are some cool soccer traditions but being a psychotic fan is not one of them.

And here I thought the Oilers had North America's #1 Inferiority Complex all locked up.

Tampa will require the Oilers to hold their beer as they excommunicate an 11-year old for having the the sheer, unadulterated audacity to cheer for a different team and wear their Jersey.

Can we get that lady from Game of Thrones to march that child through downtown Tampa while ringing her bell and chanting 'SHAME?'

I dont even know if I should feel bad for the employees....they actually seem pretty into it as opposed to a more apologetic:

"I know this is stupid and I'm sorry but its my job' approach.

All this fighting in the stands talk reminds me of a Roughriders Stampeders match.

Some of the most fun I’ve had at sporting events was friendly bantering with an opposing fan sitting next to me.

Seriously though, if that's that reason behind this then maybe tell your fans that instigators of fights will be kicked out.

I'm trying to find the story but I remember a few years back a kid in Pittsburgh had a homemade Flyers shirt that they had drawn themselves.

Later during and intermission the Penguins staff brought a Philly jersey over for the kid.

Might be thinking of the wrong teams, but the point stands that hockey is for everyone regardless of who you cheer for let's all just be good fans.
