Seattle wont need to worry about getting to the cap floor.
They will have way more cap space to sign UFA's that can actually play than have to scrape the dregs of bad contracts to get there.

On the Oilers only because you have no one else and because you’ve never seen a legit top pairing D-man in action before.

* Jesse Puljujarvi is the winger McDavid needed.

Wingman at the club maybe but his game at the rink is full of holes.
Quote:
* Larsson is back in form and looking to take a sweet heart deal for the team.

Larsson is gone to somewhere better unless he gets a massive massive raise. Don’t worry, you’ve got 6 Giordanos ready to fill in.

* A bloated contract is likely on the way out in the expansion draft.

Delusion is strong in this one. Like the Vegas expansion where they were forced to take a player so reluctantly took Griffin Reinhart because he was the easiest to send to the curb. Seattle will do the same. Have any other junk you traded a 1st and a 2nd for?
Quote:
* Dylan Holloway is a legit top prospect.

Another rookie to the rescue. Actually it’s another rookie to ruin.
Quote:
* Bouchard is a top 4 dman on this team looking at a log jam.

The log jam is at the departures gate. With Larsson, Kulikov, KoekKoek and Barrie skipping town tomorrow right after collecting their belongings you better hope Bouchard can handle those 7 minutes.
Quote:
* Broberg is here next year with Bakersfield

Another rookie to the rescue! All the pressure on the rookies!
Quote:
* McLeod is a legit top 9 forward with top 6 potential

Guy has 1 assist in 13 NHL games and he’s a lock to play top 9? He’s only a lock to play on the Oil cause there’s no depth.

And into the rest of his career slump.

To be filled with new stop gaps at higher cap hits!

Which show? Oil Change 2?
Quote:
* Kris Russel will be making 1.25M

When this is the highlight of your offseason you’ve got real problems.
Quote:
* Barrie will be gone I will miss his offence but I believe Bouchard is the better player in offense and defensive responsibilities.

Lol

Or they retire so they can get out of that hellscape.
Quote:
* Nuge may likely take a sweetheart deal.

Nuge’s eyes are wide today as he knows there’s just one more day of this bad dream and then he can get back into the real world he’s been locked away from since 2011. Welcome to Seattle Ryan!

* Larsson is back in form and looking to take a sweet heart deal for the any other team.
* A bloated contract is likely on the way out in the expansion draft. lol wut? maybe if they include a few 1sts
* Dylan Holloway is a legit top prospect. Insert draft reaction video here
* Bouchard is a top 4 dman on this team looking at a log jam. 21 career gp. time to order a banner.
* Broberg is here next year with Bakersfield
* McLeod is a legit top 9 forward with top 6 potential 1 assist in 13 career games.
* Yamamoto will be out of his sophomore slump and into his 3rd year slump
* A lot of cap is being freed up and many of the stop gaps won't be back. RNH, Larsson, Barrie. Anyone other than 97 and 29 must be a stop gap
* Benson and Marody will likely be in the show.
* Kris Russel will be making 1.25M so at least it won't cost anything to bury him in the AHL
* Barrie will be gone I will miss his offence but I believe Bouchard is the better player in offense and defensive responsibilities. Nurse 26, Russell 34, and a bunch of <24 year olds. What could go wrong?
* Kahun and Yamamoto will be up for new contracts and they won't be getting massive raises because they are no good
* Nuge may likely take a sweetheart deal anywhere else
We are a **FEW dozen** pieces from being a play off team that goes beyond the first round. I didn't feel this year was it (I did not expect us to be potentially swept)

People bring up the cap floor all the time but has anyone ever had trouble reaching it without taking on a bloated contract? The Devils have the lowest cap hit in the NHL, and they are $10M over the floor. You could take out Subban's whole $9M contract and they'd still be compliant.

Is anyone listening to "Oilers Now!" on 630 CHED? The apologetics are astounding.

Being below the floor would be an amazing position to be in right now. Send an email blast to every GM asking them to make a blind bid with sweetener(s) within 48 hours.
There'd be 31 offers to wade through, and then you could probably squeeze another pick or 2 out of the deal(s).
Or offer Ovi a 1 year max deal for shts and giggles.

Tells you just how "all in" they were on this team.
They were so sure about it that they came all the way out of their caves into broad daylight and chimed in on every hockey thread on this board like it was their own.
The utter silence is delicious.

It's not the cap floor. They have to reach 60% of the cap limit through the expansion draft, so they will have to take on some more expensive players.

Like Vlassic, Brent Burns, Lucic, and Tyler Johnson. Guys who maybe aren’t playing up to their contract, but also not a healthy scratch either.
That’s close to $20 million right there.

That's only an average of $1.63 million from each team.
