Well then the refs aren't doing their jobs. You run a guy from that far away, hit him square in the numbers into the boards that should be 5 and a game, all day every day. I don't care if it's Sam or not, 2 minutes for that kind of hit is a joke.
You should've seen the stuff that got 0 minutes in that game.

Not necessarily offensive zone penalties
He has had some borderline hits but nothing this bad, I wouldn't say he is dirty but this hit obviously was. Probably one of the worst hits of the season if we are being honest.
Sam better hope his team pulls it off without him or the legend of playoff Sam Bennett could be ending soon. Game two is basically their season IMO
Did he throw a tantrum after the goal got waved off or something? He didn't push Vasilevskiy into the net, he pushed him laterally about 6 inches. The right call was made, but if the call on the ice was a goal, I'm not 100% sure it gets overturned. He didn't do anything ridiculous.
Yes, it was a bad hit, just like the several others that also earned suspensions (and several more that should have, but didn't). I doubt it's in the top 3 this year, though (though I can't recall any of the top of my head).

Why are you getting so defensive? I said he wasn't a dirty player but it was a dirty hit. He crossed half the ice surface to hit a guy in the numbers there is a reason you can't think of any worse hits lol. It was also an obvious non goal...his stick flexed pushing the goalies pad into the net before scoring in the empty space. He had a look of shock it was called off when it was text book no goal. (Called it classic SB because I have seen it before, just a joke considering he probably has more disallowed NHL goals than legit ones)
People that rail on the flames non stop are now the biggest Sam Bennett apologists and its pretty telling...Park your bias, the guy had a terrible game and hurt his team. Like I said he better hope they win game 2 without him or their great season will end up being one and done.

This hit is awful. Coleman is fighting for puck along the boards and distracted by another player. Bennett comes in full speed and hits him from behind head first into the boards. Also looks like Bennett jumps into the hit a bit...totally unnecessary.
Not sure why all these things can't be true
- Sam played a good overall game, generating chances and putting up another 2 points
- He also took an incredibly bad penalty at an incredibly bad time that changed the complexion of the game
- The penalty also now has an additional cost of him not being available for a crucial 2nd game.
Doesn't mean he is a bad player now. But in a short series, it can come down to a few moments, and his penalty was one of the defining moments of game 1.

What a fantastic game. Florida was fast, played with a lot of skill and grit. That play by Huberdeau for the 4-3 goal was just nasty.
I'm looking forward to watching the rest of this series.
Poor penalty by Bennett for sure, but he played a pretty solid game.

I don’t mind 1 game. But Avery is an idiot. Who cares what he says.
Avery did a lot of stupid things.
But as an agitator and player that’s supposed to be screening the goalie I didn’t hate the Brodeur thing. More putting his own safety as risk by not watching where the puck was coming from than anything.

Sure, turning your back to potential shots from your own team and ignoring the play is an idiotic move. If your team gets the puck, it could be coming in hot, and he has surprisingly low interest in understanding where that puck is and what the opportunity or risk are.
And wants Bennett to be cognizant of risk. Good lord
He is a sensationalist that put himself above the game.
Among other reasons, I view him saying something worthwhile as the equivalent of a broken clock being right twice a day
He didn’t play with integrity, and if some guy didn’t post his crap here I’d never n know about it.
He is an idiot and it would be ideal if he was valued as such, but train wrecks are somehow in vogue in these times
I find the trend of people valuing loud mouth morons somewhat disheartening
Who the hell is Sean Avery, to be talking like that about anyone? Dude acts like he never made any dirty plays, or ever tried to hurt anybody...
If a dooshbag like Avery is calling a hit dirty you know just how beyond the limit the hit is. I still can't believe that hit didn't lead to five and a game, and then a longer suspension.

It would be fun to watch. Bennett would pummel Avery like there's no tomorrow.
Pound for pound, Bennett easily ranks in the top 5 for toughest players in the NHL, if not the toughest.
It would be enjoyable to watch.
I bought his book on Audible. It was actually entertaining. He tells stories about Ruslan Fedotenko marrying his billet Mom, why Broudeur hates him because he would constantly mentioned Brodeur’s face that Marty left his wife for his children’s aunt (his sister in law), how he spanked Paris Hilton, and wrestled down Laird Hamilton on the beach in addition to others.
Who knows what is actually true, but it was entertaining. He narrates it, at some points his literacy is questionable.
Then I returned it and said it was terrible because... he’s such a toxic clown.
