Sutter is notorious for being the first one off the ice following the final whistle. I think some honest opinions will be shared in the dressing room after this loss.

Stone has been excellent. Wonder what would have happened had he not had blood clots or whatever kept him on the sidelines.

I agree they do need a full summer of major conditioning. Agreed 100%.

Pretty classic flames tonight. Like a couple said, the season wasn’t lost tonight, but it could have been won and there was no push at all. Very disorganized effort. Lots of guys that didn’t want to be the guy to make something happen.

At least the hope is gone. Play the rookies, get some value out of these games, and hopefully get back to the top 8 or so for the draft. I’d hate to lose the last 4 to Vancouver but they’ll probably still be in the playoff race at least.

They should think about trading Tkachuk as you may get good value, he’s really slow, seems disinterested and lazy, and eats up a lot of minutes a faster player could use and actually generate some energy and intensity.

Team can't look at it that way...if they are within 8 of Montreal going into the Vancouver series they will be going for it in those games

Too bad we didn’t deal him and others for DuBois.
This year is possibly a big one off. I’m a strong believer that we need a new leader in the locker room. And I think giving up early on Tkachuk could be a big mistake. On the opposite spectrum my concern is his skating is going to become a hurdle he can’t pass. A lot of the rest I believe to be a broken locker room. I think it’s no coincidence the Tkachuk we knew and loved disappeared after the Muzzin incident and they told him to keep a lid on it. Possibly with Gio gone and some new core pieces would be different. But again I’d be lying if I said the skating wasn’t a concern.

This team just doesn’t have enough gamebreakers to make things happen out there when games are tight like this. Toffolli isn’t spectacular or anything but he torched the Flames all season long and scored the biggest goal of the season series.

The only thing that’s special about this team is that they can outshoot other teams and out-corsi them. But they really suck at finishing. Same old can’t score Flames.

If this was a regular 82 game season this team would be making the playoffs under Sutter. Ran out of runway. Move out whoever doesn't want to be here and have a good season next year. I like defensive hockey but you need guys who move their feet and make good decisions with the puck. Unfortunately this does not seem to be Tkachuks game at all. I would not be surprised if he is the one moved this year.

I have Toffoli regrets as well. Obviously, you wouldn’t anticipate his current pace, but he’s a solid 15-20 goal scorer, and a natural RW. It always takes 2 sides to make a deal, but after hearing over the weekend about how tight he and Looch are, you would have to think he would have at least listened to an offer if one was made. So did Tre actually make an offer or was this yet another swing and miss...

Ah, who knows, and it’s not relevant anyways. My offseason wish is for Tre to be the first one out the door. He’s had plenty of opportunity to put his stamp on this team, and they are simply not good enough. And that’s on him now.

I think Sutter already has quite a handle on what he has. Should be an interesting off season.

Try and improve the roster to give Sutter more to work with next year.

I'd look at seeing if you can do a swap with Tkachuk similar to Laine for PLD.

Getting a RW would be a good start.

Monahan and Gaudreau are so far from being game breakers. They both used to be.

I still think Gaudreau is capable of it. He’ll do well if traded to the right situation (and gets to play with a top tier centre).

Monahan is a leech. Guy does nothing well.

How many high quality chances did the top flame forwards have 5 v 5?

How does that happen in a monumental game?

Gaudreau still is...being a playmaker he needs to play with good players though

I feel like I'm in a twilight zone where I'm the only one seriously pissed off that in a game where scoring is so difficult you can just cross-check a guy into the crease and nobody even talks about whether the goal you score when you do that is legitimate or not. Screw game management, screw discretionary calls, and give me VAR.

How many times do plays dematerialize with 19 on the ice? How many turnovers did this heel cough up? Does he need a covid test after that coughing fit? All season has been a coughing fit. He’s so ineffective these last 5 months. He compliments the senators then his whole season just nosedives. No fundamentals. No growth in weak areas of his game. I’m being mean I know but he really regressed and it was a narrative post the muzzin incident. He’s gotta reflect on his character as a player now. He can’t keep trending this way with any sort of pride. Especially as a hall of famer’s son.

People have bad seasons but I hope he knows that this got Benny to a top team and this team blown up. Maybe that was his plan after all? He knew that if they failed change would sweep through. Maybe he plays better with a new core group. His value would be quite low but not far removed from excellent value so we may still get a haul from a Desperate team.

This group broke my heart...again. So who’s really to blame after all this disappointment?

They were in this game going into the third. Then bam just mail it in. It was so uninspired and apathetic. It was truly their theme this year as a team. Barely a whimper :/

Tree gotta go. Backlund, monny and Johnny gotta go. I’d even trade hanifin if there was an overpay. Really no one should be off limits. Team tank is smirking right now. How did anyone believe this group could pull that off ? They suckered me in.

30 teams should have picked up TT

Its not like the Flames just said nah with given the chance to match Montreal's offer...At least we didn't trade picks for him like Vancouver and then let him walk

Gaudreau for sure still has game breaking ability not sure about Monahan. Also the never talked about but pretty damn good Lindholm has game breaking ability too. Trade Tkachuk and get a key piece and go for it again I think.
