First one was very suspect and the Flames player was being tripped at the same time

They still had the whole game to score more than one goal

I was pounding the Toffoli drum in the offseason.

I hate that the GM thought a goalie change was enough. There were 2 other holes, one a RW.

Do what you need to to create the room and fix the issues up front.

Pucking Simon and Nordstrom... really.

He was sitting there for the picking for weeks and the Habs just waltzed in and picked up a guy that prorated puts up 40+ this year.

The reason we don't turn things around is because we don't seize opportunities when they present themselves. We sit and overanalyze and then it passes us by.

We needed to make a splash at the forward ranks. There was no question after the Dallas series. We went and did the bare minimum instead.

Results are pretty in line with what should be expected given that.

It was always going to be a tall order to get back in the race. Especially for a team that already can't win pressure games. Season done, let's see what trades they can make in the offseason.

Sutter waiting on the bench while the guys walked down the tunnel says lots about what he thought about their effort in the third.

Remember when the Flames had good draft lottery odds?

Now they have the 11th-best chance at the top pick.

Mediocrity.

Let's just focus on the things the Flames didn't do here. The Flames did not play with urgency. The Flames did not generate many shots. The Flames did not penetrate the middle of the ice. The Flames did not get more than 10 feet from the boards for the vast majority of the night. Add them all up and you find out why the Flames did not win.

I think the Flames are horribly out of shape. And I’d bet that Tkachuk is the most out of shape one of the bunch. He pisses me off so bad because he never makes the simple play!! Always trying to make some fancy ass play that works once every 50 tries. KISS!!! Keep it simple, stupid!!

Easier said than done. How exactly do you create that room? Trade Hanifin? Andersson? New hole.

It's embarassing Kylington didn't play today. Could have used his skill.

Likely reading too much into there, but who knows. Wouldn't work in his favour contract wise. Either way the whole locker room culture is rotten, and needs to be destroyed by shifting out multiple core players.
We can't have Chucky not showing up every season we get to the playoffs. Not sure what can be done to fix it, he is playing like he is not as invested in the team as he was.

Look at Tre if he's still GM pass up on Zach Hyman or Taylor Hall and brings in more 4th line/AHL level scrubs to solve the Flames offensive issues.

So the Flames played like the Flames.

Paging Sutter (press conf.)

The team were getting to the bad habits in the third. Holding the stick too tight, not able to increase the pace and game flow. Stone is one of the best defenseman and I missed Hanifin.

Mony was floating his mind when he needed to shoot. He had a few good defensive plays but pretty much it.

Tkachuk...

The stretch started at game 4 this year, I guess.

Absolute crap.
So the Flames needed to win 1-0?

After everyone settles down and thinks about it, I think there is merit in letting Sutter run this group one full season and see what happens.

Treliving waited to long too pull the trigger, in fact, Sutter should have been here to start the year. But since then, while yes I know their record has been not great, you can see glimpses of better structure, more confidence, and a team that actually legit might figure it out.

Coaching matters. Fast forward a year under Sutter, not just one month. Do they look so lazy in that third period? I don’t think so. I don’t think they’re in a position like this at all actually.
