That is a spectacular return for a player with very limited impact on the game. Shocked to see someone roll the dice and be willing to be on the hook for that $2.55M qualifier. Great job by Treliving. Flames got better today.

Really wish he could have found his groove here.

Never hated on him too much. Still young enough to figure it out. Time in the AHL would have done him wonders.

That's probably 60% on Bennett, 35% on coaching and 5% on drafting.
It wasn't like Bennett was in the doghouse with one coach over his entire career. I'd put it 90% on Bennett. If he breaks out then you can slot it back to coaching.

I doubt the Panthers soured on Emil Heineman so soon. Obviously a player the Flames' scouts had on their radar. How it sorts out remains to be seen.

A 2nd rounder for someone who's gotten 67 goals in over 400 games is a steal. 0.16 goals per game

To put it in perspective, Mangiapane already has 37 in 163. 0.22 goals per game.

Agreed.

Just hoping you have some suggestions on how I can alter the site to make sure fans don't like players on the team they're cheering for too much.

If I see it I'll stamp it out!

Best prospects in some time IMO. Closest thing to the next wave of franchise/generational talents, or trending in that direction at least.

No we traded a bottom 6 player and a 6th for two 2nds

Bennett busting is another problem

Just like Lucic Neal deal. We won the deal and signed Neal was the real problem

Sutter’s teams get pigeonholed for being heavy physical groups, but the 04 Flames could skate you into the ground.

We’ve never had a team that could do that since.

Yeah, thought his draft year was 2022 but turns out it's 2023.

Well Fla is good to cheer for. Always had a bit of a soft spot as a fan of the Beezer, just wasn't a ton to cheer for.

If only we could have bottled 18-year-old Sam Bennett and kept that guy.

I still remember him scoring his first NHL goal in the playoffs against Vancouver. Good times.

So not looking forward to the cherry pick posts touting the Flames as being the problem not Bennett when he has a good game or goes on a decent stretch for 2 weeks............it will be painful.

Happy to have those type of posts, but please wait until Bennett starts putting up numbers over a statistically relevant time frame before doing so!

No, the Flames didn’t get any better today

That’s TBD

Good trade for Treliving although the comparisons to the Hall trade are misguided. Hall alone was able to decide where he would go.

Bennett's playoff performance is what got this done. Doesn't matter at all whether that was him playing to his potential or engaging some other level, the fact is not only has he consistently had a physical impact in the playoffs he has produced at a thirty goal pace.

For Florida that's worth a second round pick and their 16th best prospect.

For the Flames, time to move on and accumulate some assets that have no expansion draft risk.

Win/win.

Stats wise, he sounds okay even though the total sucks based on some comparables.

It was a good trade for the Flames, no arguing there. I expected a second rounder for Bennett but if Heineman turns pretty much into anything substantial its a clear win for Treliving.

Yup, he needs to tear it up all next season for it to be on the Flames.
