Heineman generally went a little higher than anticipated in the draft.
Bob had him at #69, Pronman #93, FC #95
Button didn't have him ranked, nor did the Hockey News.

So, Swedish Bennett?

Scott Wheeler @scottcwheeler
Emil Heineman was 65th on my final draft board for 2020, and 16th on my 2021 #FlaPanthers prospect pool ranking (who have the No. 9 pool in the league). He’d likely rank 10th or 11th in the Flames’ 20th-ranked pool.

His scouting report here: theathletic.com/2356890/2021/0…

Opens up a space for a young forward to join the club as well.

@DarrenWHaynes

Flames turned Sven Baertschi-for-a-second-rounder at 2015 trade deadline into Rasmus Andersson. They turned Kris Russell-for-a-second-rounder in 2016 into Dillon Dube. Emil Heineman and 2022 second-rounder fetched for Bennett sets team up for another potentially excellent return.

Yeah, I can't say I follow enough to know if those are decent SHL numbers or not. Another dart!

Glad he held the line, that's a pretty solid trade.

I'll miss the guy, always enjoyed the never know what you're going to get, wild card angle of his game. Plus he stuck up for teammates, and would always show for big games.

But as others have said, he was a concern next year. Either lose him for nothing in expansion, or maybe worse keep him and then an arbitrator hands him an unexpected raise. That was a concern.

For that (expansion lists and arbitration) I think I'd be a little pissed if I was a Florida fan.

Best of luck to Sam in Florida, I hope he has success.

@Fan960Wills

With Sam Bennett traded to #Panthers, I’d love to get a look at Adam Ruzicka. 21-year-old is big (6-4, 202) and skilled (leads @AHLHeat in goals with 10 and points with 19).

@DarrenWHaynes

Man, that is some shrewd GM-ing from Brad Treliving to get that kind of haul for Bennett with the Seattle expansion draft looming over all NHL transactions right now. He was unlikely to be protected and there was a real risk that he was going to be gone to the Kraken for nothing.

Normally when my teams make a trade I have to be sad or happy about it because of assets given up on either side of the equation. If I look at this trade, I could see it being a win for either side both short and long term.

The great news is I don't give a #### who won the trade because both of my teams get something of value. If one team clearly wins I don't lose. Either way, it works out for me.

He was a mid-second rounder in the last draft, so Florida obviously thought so. He went a little bit higher than most of the major rankings had him going into the draft.

Well, it sounds like he could be a poster here. That was the worst part about Bennett. Played decent for a stretch and then sucked maybe he actually breaks out in Florida. Odds aren't on his side.

Yeah, falling in love with Flames players is a serious problem around here.
