If he goes UFA I would bet money he gets more than that. Not that he deserves a lot more but he would be in demand. Unless the oilers want to give him 7-8yrs, I could see that being his negotiating position.

One Question is, Nugent Hopkins or Monahan at the same salary. Who is the better value or player right now? Curious to hear non biased thoughts.

At this very moment, RNH.

I’d take Monahan. Nuge is good but not great despite playing with 2 all world players and gobs of PP time. Sam Bennet would put up 40 with those 2.

I agree. Put monahan on that pp and he could score 40 no question if he is healthy. Nuge is more durable though so straight up might make him valuable especially moving forward. Monahans injuries are really becoming a concern

Hard to say when Monahan has probably not been "healthy" for a long while now. I'd take Tenderness over Monahan in his current state, but if we're talking about the 30 goal player he was, I'd take that guy. I have no doubt he would be a PPG player with the Hart bros. Probably is near the top of the goal scoring race too. Put the puck on vintage Monahan's stick in dangerous places and he cashes in a lot of the time. Tbh Gaudreau has sucked as a playmaker at even strength for some time too, even if Sean's shot has taken a hit. He's not getting set up nearly as often.

Monday’s shot flubs were mostly on Monahan. But he’s been getting the pucks in his feet, too late (and then deflected) and when he’s well covered a lot this year. And the shot gets tipped off target and the “he needs to bury that” comments happen.

Patiently waiting for the department of player safety video explaining that Connor McDavids elbow has the right of way at all times.

I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a fine and no suspension because of some first time offender type of excuse. If that was a regular player he's getting 2 games minimum as it was one of the more blatant elbows to the head you will ever see.

I'm not exactly sure what he was thinking really but it was a major mental lapse.

I doubt that there will be any GMs willing to spend massive amounts of money this offseason. There will be minimal revenue coming in for all teams and I just can't see owners willing to throw down massive amounts of money in this climate.
I think that they will need a season of fans in the stands to make owners feel better about spending money.

The league should take a look at that. If that exact same play happens to McDavid we would never hear the end of it.
