Chucky with the dumb dumb play.
Also, I was always under the impression that if a puck is directed in with a skate and there's a follow through, it was a pretty clear no goal. I guess I just don't know the rule.

The thing that frustrates me most about Tkachuk this year is that I don’t think his talent has regressed or anything. I don’t think he’s not trying. He’s just making all the dumbest plays possible at the dumbest times possible.

It’s baffling but fixable.

Well this is just dumb.

One bad thing happening in a game should not turn it into the Hunger Games. Come on.

Surprise it’s Furlatt. He’s always had it out for the flames. The missed boarding call and that was a clear kick in goal.

After the Peel incident how does the nhl defend this type of game management ? Guys are being nearly injured while the officials are indifferent to consistent standards of officiating.

This is something else. Furlatt, I’m gonna find this guy one day.

And tachuck keep skating bro. What a flopper. Skate Rich kid. Man he’s poor attitude brat sometimes. But when it costs goals? This guy and Eric Furlatt.

He is allowed to direct it in though....you just cant swing your leg (kicking motion).

I agree with the call after watching it a few times now...pretty skilled play actually.

If the puck gets kicked, it’s its own fault.

Always the low percentage play with him. Blind passes to the slot that go up ice, and he’s given it away on the PP entry a ton.

To play the puck onto his stick or elsewhere in the zone. That's not the type of play that should be called back I say. I don't feel it's any different from a deflection goal off a body.

Thing is, Furlatt made the call on ice, but the review was Toronto “no kicking motion”. Not “no evidence sufficient to overturn”.

"Skilled play" and Nate Thompson don't really go together.

I hate this guy. He scored that stupid high stick goal in the playoffs against us too and that shouldn't have counted either.

Well the only reason I have ever heard for the rule is player safety. That reasoning seems specious at best. So just get rid of the rule. Kicking already is a match penalty, call that if safety is a concern.

Jesus guys, stop justifying a bad call by pretending it wasn't a kicking motion and some sort of "accidental" play.

I swear, sometimes you can't see things for what they are. That's the wrong call, full stop. There's nothing else to debate. He directed it towards the net intentionally with his skate and the skate swung forward in a kicking motion. Any other justification is just trying to play devil's advocate.

Honest question, is that what the rule book says?

I agree that's how it's enforced but in no other planet is a swinging motion needed to define a kick. Not in soccer, not in martial arts, only in hockey.

The league actually has created it's own definition of "kick".

What a brutal period for the refs. Man officiating makes the NHL hard to watch.

You have to use slow motion to even get that. Even then there was a slight follow through. Guarantee if the flames have something even close to that it’s no goal.

It’s gonna make the rounds for being ridiculous. And Toronto review office seems to rule against the flames often if they can.

I still feel it’s game management. The rot just goes all the way to hog town.

But if it’s a kicking motion to get your foot into position to deflect it, then it’s it a kicking motion in general.

Just because the puck hits the side of his foot instead of a toe doesn’t meant it’s not a kicking motion.

Turning his ankle is different than a kicking motion.

His skate was already moving forward because he was skating forward and was fighting for, and had inside position on Rasmus.
