Kelly Kirsch is a fool. I was a loyal listener for literally every hour. Out of spite, I will be tuning out of the 1:00-2:00 clock hour.

Too bad. Jason was the best one on the morning show and I like all of them.

That's just a sign of the covid times. I met a women who was laid off just before school started in September, and she didn't have enough money to get her daughter a laptop or iPad for school.
I hope they manage to find work asap. If they didn't already have a part time job, radio pays less than penuts.

The lack of drive time listeners has to be deadly for that station.
Before the pandemic, it would take me a minimum 20 minutes to fight through Glenmore in the morning.
Now, I can leave ten minutes before my shift starts. Nobody is on the road.
Which means nobody is listening to the radio.
God damnit. Keep your heads up, boys.

Whaaaat??? Ugh, that's awful about Deforest & Klein! Genuinely rattled reading that just now.
I'm pretty shocked they kept him over Klein. I almost wonder if all the anti-Nault stuff lately actually contributed to the decision, in the sense maybe Kirsch/960 thinks they have some sort of "villain" to up the listener numbers and discussion about the show with how annoyed we get with him. I really hope not..

Keeping Nault over Klein is just dumb squared.

This was above Kirsch's pay grade im thinking.
Moves in other cities suggests as much.

I think Nault being the contrarian definitely helped his cause. Steinberg and Klein pretty much agreed on everything which made for vanilla radio.

Deforest was a huge part of what made the morning show popular.
He was more than a producer. How long was he there? 15 years?
Maybe he was making more than the other producers at the station and they wanted to cut cost.

Who is Deforest? Was that the NFL guy that they would call in from time to time? Why do they need so many talkers anyway? Klein was ok but just another voice.
Scott Rintool and Tim Macalef are solo and they are better then when they had partners. Jay does not need Dan...
I agree that we need more good writers, talkers not so much. Heck last night, pat and the callers were entertaining. I have not listened to overtime in years. Rob Kerr, although I liked him had no patience with callers, although that was funny at times.

The producer for the morning show.
He would typically speak a lot more during Boomer's early show.
Most of the station's long-running gags are a result of Deforest's clipping skills.

"this station is terrible I don't listen anymore"
"how dare they fire someone"
No listeners=No money

Man I see all these people that want to get into radio broadcasting these days and I just don’t get it.
It’s a brutal dying industry that pays like garbage and has terrible job stability for people who aren’t at the very top. Even some of the guys let go today are really good. Tough business, even tougher to make it to the top.

He's great and added a ton to the morning show. Sad to see him leave honestly.

Yeah, just want to add to what everyone else is saying — Jay Deforest was my favourite part of the morning show. I am a Klein fan as well. This is really too bad. I hope they land on their feet well. Tough news.

That’s what I’m saying. The powers that be should have canned him first, but they seem to think good ratings with no competition means the station is producing good content.
