No, but he could make one good save in this game and we go to OT. Much like Monahan and Gaudreau, Markstrom hasn't been good enough.

I wouldn’t move Markstrom or Tanev but not because they’re 100% untouchable - more because I just got them, plus I don’t think they are very replaceable.

I would move him at 50% tomorrow. Leave the captain spot open, clean house - either make chucky your captain or trade him.

Everyone who is throwing around untouchables lists keep in mind that although it’s a real struggle right now, Valimaki and Andersson and still young for dmen.
You don’t trade guys like that as they are only going to get better.
You think Anaheim doesn’t wish they kept Theodore?
We gotta keep things in perspective

Another team with spoiled rotten players... One of the reasons young players usually need a good coach to bring them along the right way. Teams that target the draft too much end up with soiled players.

No one on this team is untouchable. If a deal comes along that makes the team better any player should be available.

The Flames are a team that is fundamentally flawed in its construction.
BT committed to a core of players that simply are not good enough to compete in this league. Gaudreau is a wonderfully gifted player, and would be a tremendous supplemental piece on a contending team. As a cornerstone piece he simply does not have the make up to grind a team to a W. He's too small and too averse to initiating contact. Monahan I am not even sure would even be a 2nd line centre on a contending team right now. The goals are coming less and less often now, and that simply isn't good enough for a guy who is being relied on to be a 25-30 goal guy (82 game season). He just isn't getting better.
I guess we can all put that whole "Ward was stifling Bennett's potential" argument to rest as well. That's now 6 games in a row, the last 3 with getting close to 15 minutes a night, with zero points. 2 in his last 11. Now obviously the whole team is struggling. But this was supposed to be a reset for 93. Looks to be the same player as before.
Some great pieces out there. Tanev, Hanifin, Lindholm, Mangiapane. But otherwise this team is a complete mess.

Not attacking you just stating a fact. Its a lot better than "I told you so" 2 years later.

You think he has been good enough this year? .903 coming into tonight's game. I'm just saying he deserves to get called out the same as our other highly paid players.

Agreed, but unless they are burning it down, I don’t think trading Markstrom or Tanev makes the team better unless you give me some goofy Mackinnon for Tanev hypothetical.

I agree that there’s guys you shouldn’t be looking to move, but I don’t think there’s very many truly untouchable players in the NHL to begin with, and certainly none of them are in Flames uniforms.
Markstrom was the one name I thought about when I posted that. So in my view he’s as close as it gets on the Flames, but if someone blows you away with a package for him it shouldn’t be off the table.
For the record I think it would be insanely stupid to trade Markstrom and he’s my favourite Flame this year.

Why are they even bothering with these shenanigans? Put your head down and get off the ice. They just look like children. Both of them

Only one word to describe such antics. Immaturity.
Darryl said it a few nights ago. 04 team way more mature than this group.
Great example of just that.
Tkachuk nowhere near ready to be a Captain with that nonsense.

He’s a showboater all too often and I wouldn’t mind seeing him dealt because I do think he yields the highest return. I’d also reach out to Toronto to see if they had interest in reuniting Marner/Tkachuk and how far they’d be willing to go. Because of the way things are set up this year and the higher than normal odds for any Canadian team that makes it into the playoffs I could see a team like Toronto paying an absurd amount for a player like Tkachuk. Haha we could even offer up a Rittich/Tkachuk package that would make Toronto salivate.

I think we should try for a couple of firsts... we need an elite player in the worst way. Better to get that first from teams that ight give us a quality first round pick. I believe the time to do it is now and try and shore up other areas with Sutter type players since he can win with those anyways.
