Pay him $20 to say we’re the best and put the puck in his own net?

I just love how the Flames are the ones causing neutral zone turnovers and not the other way around anymore.

the relentless forechecking fell off a bit in the third and luckily the Coilers didn't generate much. great win. hanifin's goal is a killer instinct to me. i love how the d has been activated. and i still cannot believe that we got tanev and markstrom this season and beyond.

The D being activated was one of Peters' major changes. The chaos it provides on the forecheck, at very least, leads to a dump out not a breakout. And if implemented properly, outside of your own increased hard work, there's no gaping hole it leaves you exposed to on the back end.
On the D pinching up into the play offensively, it means the d have make a quick decision to do so or not do so and take a bit of a risk vs reward, but with forwards recongizing this, they are quick to cover.
The horses are there to do it, and have done it 2 calender years ago, so nice to see it working. Players may be dog tired and not like the relentlessness, but they are 3-0 with that properly channeled additional effort and work via Sutter and his gameplan.
With Peters it was relying on Giordano, as captain, and leader of the defense, and the oldest guy on the ice, to be able to pull it off. Gio did so, and got the Norris as a reward.

Didn’t think we were quite as sharp as against Montreal but still managed to do enough to get ‘er done.
Defensively we just look so much better than under Ward’s prevent defence, which reminded me of when football teams go into a soft zone defence when leading, it really only serves to give the other team field position/momentum and invites them back into the game.
Would have been nice to hit an empty net but all in all stoked with the win over the No Gooders.
All hail Sutter!!

By my math, Sutter as a coach is 53-22 with 7 ties all-time against the Oilers... 54-22 now.

Didn’t think the Flames played that well tonight, way too passive in the defensive zone. Luckily Smith was a sieve.
Great to see Hanifin taking a step. Sometimes we forget this kids pedigree. He was highly touted coming out of the draft. I think Sutter sees him as his new Doughty project.
Same thing for Lindholm, he’s been great since coming over but in his draft year, he was getting compared to Peter Forsberg, it’s be amazing if Darryl can push Lindy closer to that level.
Hope Khaira is ok, hate to see a guy get caught like that and he’s a pretty decent guy, for an Oiler. Love having a 1-2 punch of Looch and Ritchie. Oilers had no interest in scrums after that fight.

I liked these 3 comments from the atl...particularly the first one of Sutter having an effect on the refs.
Sutter effect has an effect on the refs too. Who knew.
I miss Ward.
Oil kryptonite - hard aggressive forecheck.

This was such a huge win, puts us within striking distance of the Oilers and keeps the momentum going.
"Brett Ritchie would be a good fit in the top six" is not something I would have thought of, but I'm glad to have him around.

Just finished watching the game.
It was nice to see the Flames keep McAvi and Rraistl mostly in check. Mangipane, Backlund, Lucic, Dube, Hanafin and Tanev were the best players on the ice. Also great to see Kylington come back after that elbow to the head --- hopefully he continues to gain confidence.
Still need the Johnny and Tkachuk to wake up, but otherwise a good game.

Good game. Good result. Great win. Clutch save by Markstrom at the end. Glad to see Smith's puck playing result in a goal against. Can't stand when goalies wander around like that (including Markstrom) and glad he paid the ultimate price for it to help the Flames' win.
