Looch has been amazing the last few games -- he doesn't look slow because he's in the right place a lot of the time - not trying to do things he's not capable of. Chasing down pucks behind the net is something he IS good at - and that big body stops a lot of D-men cold. Gotta love it.

Ritchie was great tonight, absolutely executed his role. Johnny playing dump and chase isn't a good plan though. No doubt Sutter has been telling them to do that, but I would imagine that he'll give Johnny the green light once he is confident they are playing the right way.

Looking forward to it.
Oilers will want it back as well. But maybe they will start another losing streak, like against Toronto.

At the end of the day, both of these players are clearly in the declining stages of their careers and are both on bad contracts. However, it is clear to most that Neal is still the superior of the two, and the fact the Oilers have the option to place him on waivers as they did on Saturday does, even more, proves they won this trade.

“Here’s the puck, Mr. Lucic, sir”.

If Monahan doesn't flub that pass to Gaudreau, I think they would have blown this game open.

Oilers could actually be in trouble...the record outside of the Sens isn't good and they don't have many of those left. And how long is Smith going to have top 5 stats?

I noticed Monahan defensively a lot. He’s overmatched against stronger guys but he’s playing good position and he’s intercepting a lot of neutral zone pass attempts. He also is responsible on D pinches. That’s what gets you a star in Sutters book.

I can’t say enough about Lucic. I don’t notice his lack of speed any more at all. He’s a presence out there.
He knows the drill.

Couple game suspension incoming?

I think that Khaira is more worried about the fact that he doesn't remember where his house is.

Watching this game was stressful but rewarding. Definitely not boring, that's for sure. Great win, of course. I am a little worried about Johnny looking a bit ... I don't know... lost at times? Like it seems that his whole game style has changed and he is not sure how to execute Darryl's plan for his game. Probably will take a bit more time until he finds it back.
P.S. Suck it, Oilers!

Probably not long Smith doesn't have a middle ground he's either great or terrible and losing his #### on every shot.

Game Takes: Flames 4 Oilers 3

- Ritchie answers the call with a huge TKO afteri Khaira's hit on Kylington
- McDavid -1 as Sutter's system silences the Oilers big guns
- Top line pops with goals by Dube and Lindholm

Lucic looks the best he has looked in a long long time. He looks engaged, quick (for Looch) on the puck, and creating some havoc in the offensive end. Great to see.

I think Gaudreau actually looked good tonight. The points aren't there yet, they will come. That Draisaitl goal did happen with him sneaking past 13, but that shot was ludicrous. wow.

Tkachuk is still surprising to me. He looks off. Not sure what is missing with him right now.

Hanifin obviously very impressive. Hard to say how good him and Tanev have been. Speaking of Tanev, his typical zero points, a zillion minutes against 97 and a plus 1. Not sure how he does it but he is fairly incredible.

Definitely not the smoothest 3rd period but unfortunately the Oilers aren't a push over anymore, and they also have two very very very good players.

Sutter has lots of work to do still. but the Flames just a beat a team with 4 more wins than them and kept 97 and 29 to single point each which is a good thing.

Keep working hard Flames.

Also Mangiapane is my favourite player.

Yeah...and?

He started the game, played all of the 2nd and 3rd.

The claim was his game was "epic".

He made a nice play on the goal albeit his pass was not intended to the actual goal scorer. The rest of his night was average at best including a bad giveaway late.

He is still very much a work in progress. His minutes are sheltered as they should be but he is starting to show he is figuring it out. Good stuff but far from "epic".
