I'd say before the two with the Oil, so we could've pounded some humility into them and reigned them in a little.
Those 4 games with the Canucks were the breaking point for the Geoff Ward Flames for me, even though we won 2.

I wonder what the Ward apologists think of this sudden shift in play quality.

The difference in play is so extreme and happened so quickly, what Ward did in his brief time here is not far off from actual sabotage.

I'm also blaming this division thing if Edmonton makes they playoffs here for just the 2nd time since fire was discovered. Although I bet they thought they would make it last year too...

Flames arent giving room to Montreal....anywhere on the ice.
Simple and effective hockey and all it takes is effort.
Impressive.

Quite frankly, I find it astonishing.

Makes you think Neal could have even ended up being useful under a proper coach

Well the Oilers are .500 against not the Sens so it does make you wonder where they would be in a normal season

James Neal's effort coefficient is impossible to calculate, as nothing can be divided by zero.

Was crazy that the nay sayers around CP were starting to get to me at the end there when they said we didn't have the pieces to compete in the division, yet the league.
I knew it was BS and that the ability was there to play suffocating hockey like this, but they played so drastically below their potential that it was hard to say otherwise.
Roster was always good enough to be a top 2 team in this division like the pundits predicted, they just didn't have the direction or the belief to put it together.
Sutter was exactly what they needed.

Flames seemed in pretty good shape when Neal was here. The only reason he made the team was because of his salary.

You can compete in the league as is , or you can be a contender. Flams are far from contender with this group.

Yep. I'd say good enough roster to be top two in the Division and now the top coach in the Division.

The fact that they get to play Ottawa and Vancouver so many times is definitely inflating their record this year. Not to mention all the points they've gotten from a mediocre and fragile Flames team during the first half of this season.
We've all seen how badly they get spanked when they play against an actual playoff-caliber team who can counter them with depth. If this were a normal NHL schedule, I'm convinced the Oilers wouldn't be anywhere near the top of the division.
