It's more than just bad bounces for Backs right now.
Overall he's doing great, but the shots he's giving up do tend to be high danger right now. But he's still generating more high danger for than against.

And remember he's going against the other team's top forwards most nights. Those guys are going to create high danger chances, if you can out chance them then you're doing pretty good. (Team rank in brackets)

Corsi For Per 60: 59.5 (2nd)
Corsi Against Per 60: 47.29 (2nd)

Scoring Chances Per 60: 29.4 (3rd)
Scoring Chances Against Per 60: 22.9 (2nd)

High Danger Corsi For Per 60: 14.2 (2nd)
High Danger Corsi Against Per 60: 10.7 (11th)

xGF per 60: 2.79 (1st)
xGA per 60: 1.86 (2nd)

Goals For per 60: 2.22 (7th)
Goals Against per 60: 2.96 (9th)

On Ice Shooting Percentage: 6.45% (8th)
On Ice Save Percentage: .884 (10th)

Personally I don't think there is something that he is doing right now personally that is leading to him having a .884 save percentage or .949 PDO overall.

Tiny sample size but Ritchie has the team's best CA60 for forwards this season.
Ritchie is the closest thing he’s got to a Sean Donovan type. Frankly, if it wasn’t for foot speed, I’d throw Lucic up there and see what happens. You know he can win a puck battle and make a decent short pass.

I expect Bennett to have a bit of a surge - the new coach may energize and motivate him. The test will be if he starts to backslide, especially on defence, and how he reacts when Sutter addresses it.

Oh I totally agree that just watching is subjective and opinion. I'm trying to reconcile what stats say vs what I see especially when they don't seem to jive. I'm a total novice in that respect but willing to get educated. For that I appreciate your posts.

Wait that says March 10th so the baby was born today.

Did his wife have the baby overnight or this morning and he was still at practice today.

BRAVE...that is BRAVE of that man.

Not a problem.

I don't own the eye test either.

For the record Backlund when he's off is pretty public about it. Ugly turnovers, silly penalties.

But when he's not noticeable he's doing a lot of solid work.

The only real issue for me with Backlund is that he’s had a case of the bobbles - he’s flubbed a number of passes and shots. That probably shows up in Corsi as some bad bounces.

Sort of related - Calgary’s ice sucks and they have no excuse - no concerts or other events. And this isn’t good for their kind of team.

And shoots wide when he gets ten bell scoring chances!

Given the timing, I'm surprised it's not Oliver Darryl Backlund I kid..

So is he going to be sleep deprived now, or does he have a new strategy from his experience with his girl. Because I remember he was a shell of himself for a few months after the girl.

From another thread ...

His name is Jim Conlan and his whole thing is to interview as many famous people as he can. He's popped up all over the place. He's located in County Clare on the west coast of Ireland. Does radio there.

Here's his Twitter: https://twitter.com/JimConlanMedia?s=09

He also posts a lot of clips on his Instagram.

Source: I contacted him via Twitter and asked if he was the one on the Sutter intro. press conference. He confirmed it was him.
